After a week of fighting I finally got the car to start without having to retard the timing....friggin wild goose chase....what I thought was a starter problem turned out to be in the distributor. After removing the Lakewood bell housing today (thinking it was a binding issue with the starter) the problem stayed the same. After some more troubleshooting my friend suggested we try change out the distributor...well what do you know, started right up without stalling the starter. brickwall brickwall brickwall brickwall brickwall Whod a thunk.... Anyway, so much for my Direct Connection electronics tech drive distributor.....apparently there was a voltage jump within the distributor causing it to discharge in a highly advanced timing causing the starter to stall every time a cylinder came up to fire. Once the timing was retarded enough to start the car (so far retarded that the car ran like crap) and the distributor was advanced to the proper time, the problem would go away until the next start. All this time I was chasing what I thought was a weak starter turned out to be in the distributor.....

The car runs REAL strong. I have some more issues to work out but at least the car will make Carlisle. My speedo when south, not sure if it's in the speedo or the cable. I'll work that out next. Still have some tuning to do as well as find a vibration in the driveline. Guess I'll be burning some 4.50 a gallon gas to get it right....
