Hang in there bro! This may tickle your fancy a bit though. BK doesn't do General Lee's anymore. At least they don't have them on their website...
I'd rather die than go to heaven.

Really?? I haven't been there in so long I had no idea... That's the best news I've heard in weeks.... I'd be even happier to hear that their "customers" all learned how to use a search engine and discovered what hacks they were before even handing a buck over...

Well, after browsing through their site, I have to say it doesn't look much different to me? All of the Lee's are still up there, as far as I can tell?  :shruggy: I don't think they've updated that site since this thread began...

Good news!!!

My engine bay is done, painted and ready for my motor as of 4PM today...

As of 4:15PM today my MOTOR IS DONE!!

I'm heading to the builder's shop tomorrow to video the motor on the dyno... Pretty pumped about that...

Then the motor goes in. Jon's going to do up some solid mounts for me and take care of any future problems... I don't want to worry about breaking any more mounts and it's too late for a torque strap (fresh paint + grinding and welding =  :slap: )

Anyways, I'll post up a video tomorrow...

Here's my message from Jon...

Engines together, going on the dyno tomorrow, it got rings, bearings,
cam had chips in it

Here are the pictures that came with it. Now keep in mind that this motor had 200 miles on it! Jon said it looks like new, now...

wow those cylinders are scored :icon_smile_blackeye: what did BK do fit the motor then take the intake off
& left the ports open  :slap: while they atempted to do the metal work on the body  :brickwall: :RantExplode:

I have no idea...But they were bad.. But thank God all is perfect now!!! I'm nervous about the engine dyno... I've heard about them, but never witnessed one.. Full load, screaming through the RPM's... Hmmm.... Sounds like fun  :o

TylerCharger69

Well...judging by the cross hatch....yeah...200miles on it...judging by the scored cylinder walls????   Someone didnt know what they were doing.

Wow... I just plowed through this thread. It took two sittings but I did it.

I'm glad you had the determination and deep enough pockets to save this car. I've gone through a lot to get my 'Cuda project going (and nearly complete), but it's nothing compared to your saga. I would have thrown my hands up in the air and bought something else. There is no way I could have dealt with the stomach churning discoveries you made.

I'm not a fan of Lee clones, but given what you've done for this car, I think you're exempt from any criticism with what you want to do with your ride... as long as it doesn't involve bondo and a pack of cigarettes.

Just 6T9 CHGR

Jeff I missed the entire motor saga!   Sorry to hear it man but Im glad you are back up & running again....

Thanks guys... I'm glad, too!! I went, Friday afternoon, to Reid's Automotive and got to watch, video and take pictures of my motor on it's dyno run... Pretty exciting stuff, and definitely exhilarating. Watching the motor torque under the load all the way up to 6500 RPM's was amazing...

When I get a copy of it I'll post up the dyno results, but the first couple of runs gave around 520/540. I'm losing some top-end power because I'm running a 750 not an 850, but to be honest with you I'm not interested in top end power and I can promise you I'll NEVER have this motor at 6K... So , for this season, I'm happy with the #'s it's got... Then we can decide, this winter, if the car will see a blower...

Jon gets to pick the motor up tomorrow... Which is very exciting and means that I could have it back for Friday night's cruise!!!!

MoparManJim

jeff, man, don't take this the wrong way... but I love you! , I was just working with your model here and the fan belt set up came off on me (I thought I had that issue fixed alread) and now with seeing your photos of the engine. This gives me a perfect chance to do some work that I been wanting to do on the engine (as in more realistic). Like I said before the model build only gets better from here out man.

hemi-hampton

Do you got a single plan or dual plane intake manifold, That will affect your top end also. Duration on cam also.:scratchchin: Sorry to here about your motor problems, real bummer after that BK Fiasco.  LEON.

Pretty baby purr...sounds like success and great cruisin'! Congrats! and breathe!
Trust your Woobie!

jb666

Thanks...

The cam was actually dropped down a notch from what was originally quoted , but it'll be a bit more streetable.. Not quite enough to make decent vacuum, so it looks like the brakes will stay the same until I decide to go with a hydroboost setup.

Here's a quick video of it taken on my IPhone... I had my good HD DVR set up in the dyno room on the tripod.. It was SO LOUD in there that it killed the audio.. I was bummed...

Anyways, Jon's picking up the motor in the morning.. The builder spent the entire day on it today making sure everything was absolutely perfect.. They did a GREAT job on my baby!!!

SHIFT YOU IDIOT.....SHIFT!!!!!

The engine sounded nice. When I got to see my stroker run on the dyno I was all smiles. I couldn't see you in the video, but I could tell you were grinning ear to ear. :icon_smile_big:

I'm about out of both... But, as others have said, there's nothing left to go wrong...

I took some pictures of the cam that came out of the motor, tonight.. Some nice chips in the lobes...

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?
