You have to remember this trade was back in the early 1980's.  I have a whole backyard of crap I would trade for a Daytona now!!!  The Daytona and the TA are the ones I miss the most but a wife that wouldn't stop spending and then a divorce when I finally had enough of it took care of the cars.

It must be.  I bought the car from Colin, kept it for awhile and then traded it to Lou Whitfield.  I was told by someone years ago that the car ended up overseas somewhere but it may have just been a rumor, I don't know.  By the way, it didn't look like that when Colin, Lou and I owned it.  It was also an SE or at least it had the badges on it.

As far as the Propane X, I am pretty sure the 500 I owned was 1 number away from the vin of the Propane car.  I can't remember if it was higher or lower though.  Mine was a F8 green car.

nascarxx29

The Y2 daytona had A47 on the fender tag its a SE.Maybe can look up the F8 car if you have prior names

I have been gone for a few days but I'll chime in now that I"m here.

I don't know of any cars 1 digit after the propane X car as far as 500's go. And I don't have an SE 500 listed in the database until about 20,000 digits higher numerically. However there is a HEMI 500 that is 1 digit lower than the propane X car, which I'm still pretty certain is the car that Bud L thrased in his video back in the day. And that car most certainly isn't green, and it hasn't moved since the mid 70's so that rules that one out as well.

As far as the pictures of the meet in Indy. In the 2nd picture there is a boy and girl walking towards the back end of the Daytona in front of the HEMI 500 with the vinyl top and that would be me and my sister April.

Wildman

Would that be Toby Hansens ol bird in front of the Daytona by chance?  ;)

hctub

No the Daytona was an SE not the 500.  I think it was Radke who told me the one digit vin number difference between my 500 and the Propane X but again that was many, many years ago and I have mentioned my memory before!!!

The 500 I had also came from the San Jose area supposedly although I got it from a guy in Colorado.  I traded him a 1970 Challenger R/T convertible for it.  We met in St. George Utah and made the swap.

I imagine the ride to the hospital was pretty fast in the 500.  I do remember you hurt your arm pretty bad.

I think this photo was taken at Riverside Raceway but I can't remember for sure.  It has from left to right, Joe Slama's green Daytona, my primer Daytona, Lou Whitfield's Tallagega, Joe Machado's Daytona and the white Daytona with the 69 frontend I can't remember who that was.  I am almost certain the white car was a real Daytona.

The white Daytona is Vern Judy's car.   Later, the nose grew back and it went to Bonneville.

That would indeed appear to be the "TV STAR" car.

69_500

Hmmmm, can't put a finger on what 500 it would be then. I can't even think of any really early F8 HEMI 500's. Earliest one is probably Vickies car, but I think it is numbers matching, but that it has been an east coast car for a very long time as well. Well now is in Wisconsin right?

Wildman

I kinda thought it looked like my machine...Kinda thought I would see the next pic of him doing some big burnout or something crazy... :eek2:

hctub

Yep, that was the name!  What do you mean by "TV star"?

that was a guy with an outsized personality, to say the least!

hctub

Yeah I remember him as being very outgoing.  That is him in the background with something in his hands?

This is great, I throw a picture or anything else out here that I can't remember and you guys do it for me!  I haven't been able to remember who owned that white car for years.

Steve if it was at the Nats it was the same car that my dad used to own. I haven't seen the car in probably 20 years now. I wanna see it again sometime, but have had a harder than heck time contacting the new owner.

Hey Danny, how are you doing? Hope you guys had a great holiday. Yes it had to be the same car because that is pretty much what it looked like. I am sure you guys miss that one, I would love to have that one. I do like the look better without the vinyl top but how rare it is with it. I have a picture somewhere, I'll see if I can dig it up and scan it in. Is it okay to post that picture on here or do I have to get the current owners permission.

Steve

hctub

I hope you don't have to have the current owners permission because I don't have any idea who owns these cars now.

Here's another pic of Lou's Superbird and Machado's Daytona.  My TA and Colin's AAR are in the background.

69_500

I wouldn't think you'd need anyone's permission to post a picture of that car. Especially if you took it back in the 1980's. The only cars I won't post pictures of are ones that I've recently seen, or that I've been asked by the owner of the car to not post any pictures anywhere. And to those people I honor their wishes, which is hard sometimes because some of the cars are really neat ones.
