The Bloomington Ghost for sale

For those who don't know, the Bloomington Ghost is a 66 Hemi Charger that is generally considered to be the best 66 Hemi Charger in existence.  It was purchased new by a school teacher and after driving it a short time in fair weather only, she put it away.  It was stored safely like this for a couple of decades before it came to light again.  It is supposed to be 100% just as it came from Dodge and it was the subject for the first of ERTL's Authentic Series diecasts.
Now it appears as though the man who obtained it from the original owner is selling it.  He has a group of cars that are apparently for sale but the Ghost is the mauve one about a 1/3 of the way down the page.

That is correct.  I'm not familiar with the details but Keith got to the bottom of the mystery and found the car.  It got its Ghost moniker because everyone had heard of it but no one seemed to recall actually seeing it.  Anyway, he had some kind of arrangement with Cora Case allowing him to show the car while it remained in her name provided he give it the proper love and then at some point it was to become his.

WingCharger

How was the car discovered? :shruggy:
Did it sit in her garage under blankets or something for all those years? :shruggy: :shruggy:

Ghoste

Same way any of those cars are found, you just start following every lead to its end.  As for how she had it stored, I don't know.

Cora stored the car at the  Dodge dealer she got it  from ! for many years ... & was a chance meeting with the guy who ownes it now !  (he knew the story of Cora & her charger ) , sparked Coras intrest in getting the car running again , so he done the mechanic stuff ,

drained the tank and carbs then started it up fine, only problem was the screwdriver he left on the aircleaner when he closed the hood, slight imperfection in the hood now, but otherwise its original everything and very clean, we were going to paint ours black or purple until we saw it at a show in columbia MO back around 96-98 and we decided that Mauve was the only way to go

But make no mistake Wingy, this is not a beat to hell street rat, it is a very original survivor.  Look at the pics and like I said, this is generally accepted by the fastback crowd as the finest survivor Hemi 66 in existence.

WingCharger

I know what a survivor is.
Thanks for the info guys.
Did the lady order the car? :shruggy: I mean a school teacher driving a HEMI Charger? Maybe a leftover discounted on the lot?

She wanted something fast, as I recall she wasn't specifically seeking a Charger or a Hemi but she wanted to go fast.  She went into the Dodge dealer and spec'ed it out.

I talked to Cora at Osage Beach, second fastback birthday party.  She said she had 383 badges on it at one time cause nobody would race her.  Neat old lady.

I know where there is a 66 or 67 Hemi Charger sitting, rotting.  It was a nasty color, it was probably that muave, too.   :eek2:

I called the owner of the property, he said sure its for sale.  But was a little, um, out of my price range.  This was back when car prices were through the roof though...

Neat story, and car.    :2thumbs:

I met Keith several years ago at the Carlisle show; he let me take all the pics of it I wanted, let me sit inside for the dash pics, had no reservations about letting me have the run of the car to see anything I wanted. He's a super nice guy. I'd be curious to find out what he's asking for it- back then, he was told by Roger Gibson that it was worth well into 6 figures, but that was when the market was going nuts. The next year the second mauve '66 car showed up, and they were showing them together. That one was restored by Chuck Pierce, here in NH. I think the owner was named Myron, and lived in NJ. Strange there appears to be no contact info on Keith's website.
