Stupid fedex truck finally found it's way to my house.  :icon_smile_blackeye:

505 kit via Dram - costs $$$ more than 440source but I'm pleased with what I've got.

K1 4.25 crank w/ chebbie rods.
K1 6.8" chebbie rods.
Custom 14cc dish forged Diamond pistons.  633 grams.  chebbie .990 pins.  S/B 10.5  to 1 w/ 84cc Eddys.
Balanced to 1/2 gram.

Did I ever mention I hate fedex?

Ohhh Yaaaaaaaa !  :2thumbs:

Nice stuff Brian....luv the look of shiny parts out on display !  :drool5:   :icon_smile_big:

I got the same pistons for my 493 but went with Scat rods and a Scat 4.15 (MP Hemi) 8 bolt crank.  ;)

The 6.80 rod is an excellent idea....more skirt on the piston.

Ron

Any chance you will dyno this beast ? What are you doing for a cam ?

Not sure on the dyno... this is supposed to be a short block swap.    Maybe a chassis dyno sometime.

As for the cam..  still haven't decided.    Gotta be a 3 bolt solid that'll plod along at 2k rpm in 5th gear and run upwards of 6k with a 6 pack.

After a seeming eternity...   not that I was expecting to do anything with it this season anyhow -  I got the machined block back yesterday.    WWWWWhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

I neglected to get the new rear main seal block deal so I have to pull the crank back out anyway.     I don't plan on doing anything as far as starting the swap till the fall.

Need:   billet rear main seal kit.   Cam,   howards' lifters,  chain, balancer, Keisler pilot bearing, etc. etc. etc.

Brian,

Those main caps look very beefy.....i know the maching costs to fit them were higher than expected but it's money well spent.  :2thumbs:

I'd be excited if this was still 2007 and I had a half a chance to get this sucker in the car before spring.   :P

I'm just gonna collect more parts over the summer figure it out after the season is over.

Had another part show up today... not much else has happened.   I still have no ambition to pull the motor yet and get the show on the road.

This complicates my cam choice...  A lot.

I also picked up a never used Milodon 31580 road race oil pan and pickup off Ebay.

Cool...an STR 6 pack manifold.  :coolgleamA:

Any reason you're switching from the dual plane 6bbl ?   :scratchchin:

I'm with ya there. Can't stand them. They screwed me over when I got my rear valance from AMD shipped here. Took WAY too long when I got a simple package with model parts in it sent to me.

valve covers are totally cool, as far as the str 14-6 very clean looking, what is that sitting on the top of the cover by itself?? looks like a nut or something, mine doesn't have anything there
i'm pretty sure it was Ghoste that hooked me up with the diagram from the super stock book to prevent the puddling of fuel, seems pretty simple.
i was playing with a stroker B block and a stroker RB block, but every since i picked this intake up i'm kinda stuck with a RB block now, at least i have a direction to pursue now

did you see the article in a mopar mag about running fuel injection all concealed inside a rat roaster?? i was thinking the same thing with this would prevent the tuning problems but they say that the mods to do the intake are way to expensive for most people to do, something about a military spec connector for the electronics and all

have you decided what your gonna use for a gasket between the top and the bottom??, mine has one but its pretty brittle so i don't think it will do any good

1.  Brass plug for a vacuum fitting.  Previous owner did that... but I can use it anyway.

2. Yes.... I have that deal that Ghoste posted also.   I want to weld a chunk of aluminum instead of epoxing popsicle sticks.

3.  Go big or go home!  :icon_smile_big:

4.  No, didn't see article.   Hadn't considered injecting it either.   I did find out how my friend's Blazer was done by GM via an internal injection spider harness inside the 2 piece intake.    Consider the possibilities!   (see pic below).

I did see an old OFFY single plane six pack manifold at Etown on Sat.   That's the manifold Strope used on that funky Euro Charger.  http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,50525.0.html
I also saw a crazy 3x4 tunnel ram for an RB but that's a different story.

I was gonna use gray permatex.

There's a dude that occassionally pops up selling repro gaskets on ebay but they were like $30.   If it pops up again I'll post.
