Chris,

My first set did the same thing.  Call Mike and let him know what happened.

Wow! just installed mine, are they gonna turn out like that in a year?

resq302

The second set I got from Mike has been good so far.  Could have been something with the first batch that the rubber wasnt mixed or formulated right.  Mike is a good guy and does stand behind his work.

Ah - gotta love the made in China stuff. Can you clean up your old boots and use them?

Just 6T9 CHGR

Never had them or even knew they were supposed to be there until Brian (resq302) started the ball rolling with Mike from BE/A to get them made for his hood signal kits he sells....
I should have figured they were going to do this....they almost felt like paper when I put them in last year :rotz:

Chris,

At the show I was at today, I happened to remember to check my boots.  Still holding up good and that thing sure has a lot of heat under the hood.  The first set didn't even last a couple months.  Looks like the second set was from a different batch.

Just checked mine which are less than a year old and also split all the way around.  I have not had good Luck like others have had, so I'll just keep these deterorating parts.  Basically I gave up.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Chris,

The second set that Mike sent me have held up now.  The first set didnt last but a couple of months.  So far, the second set has been on almost a year now and no signs of cracking or dry rot. :2thumbs:

I plan on heat shrinking mine...       nothing against BE&A as Mike is a kick ass person to deal with - I just already have a Year One repo set that did not come with boots...    and I want them overly water tight

not knocking your idea but I highly doubt that you will be able to get the heat shrink tubing down to the size of what the wire is compared to what the outside diameter of the housing is.  I thought of that myself but looking at how much it would have to shrink and with the thought that you would have to remove it in order to change out a burned out bulb, made it kind of impossible.

If you call Mike, he sells the boots individually instead of buying the whole light assembly.  Or at least he used to.

Nothing ventured...        I'll figure it out...   I built my entire car from a shell...   I aint gonna let some chicken shit detail like that keep me from it   :D

I wouldnt even bother....I was running mine "naked" for 6 years before I even knew these were supposed to be there
Chris' '69 Charger R/T

resq302

Chris, your car is getting a lot of "naked" time this year.  The front and rear windows, the top, and now the boots.  Only thing left for your car to be naked with is a woman at the Playboy mansion.

If the second batch is proven to be better, Why not replace them again? Its not like its a 1000.00 dollar project.

PS My Charger has block off plates...they cause me zero problems!
