Heat riser valve (butterfly)

'71 383 4v, (hence the screen name ;)) with dual exhaust if that matters.
Which way does the heat riser valve rotate when it opens? The pin is broke for the spring so I wired it open  but want to check my logic before I drop it back on the ground.

looking straight on at the counter weight, I believe it rotates counter clockwise

Ok, here's what I see. If I push on the "hook" of the spring to tighten the spring it has to be moved in a ccw direction which rotates the counter weight ccw.
I was thinking if the springs loosens up, when heated, the counterweight would then move in a cw direction.

Now I'm thinking I need to rethink my logic. Instead of pushing the spring hook I need to hold the hook of the spring and rotate the c.weight and see which way the spring tightens then move the weight the opposite way and affix it that way.
To double check it I guess I can start it and see if I have good exhaust flow (no cross over pipe just straight duals).
