Hey RUstymuscle, nice going there. Is that a real R/T and original color? I almost bought an R/T that exact color in Atlanta, Ga about 16 years ago. Any chance that one came from that area?

Thanks for the kind words!

I was thinking of starting a thread on the first half (read: disassembly) of the build, having been inspired by many of the "Build Threads" featured here.

As for all of your inquiries; no, she's not an original R/T, but T7 Tuscan Bronze is the original color. Originating from the St. Louis plant, this Charger came with a 383, floor shift, console-mounted automatic, A/C, power brakes, power steering, and a 8.75 with (what I believe) were 3.23 gears on a peg leg.

I bought her in 2002 from beneath an oak tree in Bakersfield, CA for $1200, pretty much complete without a grille but in reasonably rust-free, though battered shape.

As for what she's going to be, I've stripped off all the fluff (A/C, PB, PS), filled the firewall, notched and boxed the K-frame, boxed and tied the subframes together (as per DLI's 68-70 Chargers). While I simply can't afford the Hemi I want to build, I will be stroking the crap out of a '78 high-nickel RV block 440 upwards to 540ci and built a Dana 60 with a set of 4.88s on a spool.

Personally, I've never seen a street/strip Charger that really "wowed" me. So, having wanting a Charger since watching Bullitt when I was nine, I figured I'd do it myself.

Looks great and that color is MINT!!
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Looks great!! cant wait till my charger gets to that condition!! Managed to get all the glass, trim, doors off this weekend. Bought some dollys to move the car around on. Cut most of the floor out. Pretty soon it'll be off to media blasting. Still got to pull the dash out.

Ok, I didn't see that.

P.S. Don't bother with that model I wanted. Brock Sampson has a problem with it. Brock Sampson has to be my mother for her and second guess my decisions :rotz:

Hey RUsty, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there something about rv 440's that can't be used for cars? I thought there was a thread on here about that at one time.

Judging by the side marker lamps, its a 73-74...looking at the lack of bumper filler...would make it a 72  :2thumbs:

Nice ride!

It's supposed to look like a '71 obviously. The vinyl top anyway.

Hi!This is my '69 Charger SE 383 2 barrel.
I bought it from a californian auto trader a year ago and import it in Italy.
The title tell that the car was site in Lexington, VA but unfortunatelly I don't know its story.
Have you ever seen this car before?
It is a matcing number.
After a year, I almost finish to restore it and realized my dream since I was child....have a great General Lee!
Take care you all!!!

Not my car, but I thought you guys would get a kick out of this car that just appeared near my buddies house for sale. It's in pretty poor shape with a ton of bondo and terribly aligned panels. I included a pick of the For Sale sign info if anyone might want to tackle this huge project. Its located in Hagerstown, MD.
