By the "trade in bargains" ad it would appear to be a used car and not one that's been sitting around unsold.

nascarxx29

With these ads being 1971 It s hard to believe that sat that long unsold. After they had so many orders flooded in something like 1200 orders for the limited 500 cars. But when I search for 1969.I do get daytonas advertised new in 1969 seen bellow .And some of these dealer names I dont recogonize as being on the shiplist .But got to double check to be sure.Just seeing how many I can find through this extensive newpaper archive site .And how many do appear on the ship list and what areas.Kind of like the daytona per state totals research I did at another time

This 1 was for Winnipeg Canada `1970 .And turns out to be 3 daytona Jims X9 daytona from Century motors

I would venture to say that the one listed as being in PA in 1973 is definitely a trade in considering the dealership is listed as being a used car lot not a factory dealership.

What is the location of the Missouri Dealer for the one in 1971?

nascarxx29

69 500 the daytona dealer ad was in the Jefferson Missouri paper. The site has more than 1 Mo paper to search.More to be found :Twocents:

you'd never see a dealer advertise a car like that now (pic 3) back then dealers paid attention to what a modified car had, nowadays they say "can't sell it here, will have to take it to auction, can only offer you half of book due to it being modified", was that in a race paper or something??

I do not have the exact date,
but it was time enough for Dad to special order a 1970 SS454 Chevelle,
take about 6 months to get it,
and then have it less than 6 months.

He then traded it straight at a dealership in mass for a Daytona that had been test driven plenty, but was still on the lot/in the show room.

So I am guessing it was near the end of 1970 if not 1971 it was still new at a dealer.

F6, 440 automatic with white interior and wing/stripe.

Mom says the seats were leather.

All contacts also say it came from Hartwin Dodge in Greenfield, MA.
But from what I am told, it must have been dealer swapped or something because there is no record of that dealership getting one on the list.  And yes, it was titled as a new car (but we don't have the VIN)

As much as she hated the manual Chevelle, Mom was NOT happy it was traded on an "older" car.
but she actually ended up liking it quite a bit.

I can check for that dealer. I got alot of states newpaper archives I can access .And you just enter a search like you do on google. And see what comes up .

Was searching on the newspaperarchives site .And entered hemi and convertible and got these 4 results.
