The restored car is Vitamin C.  The derelict looks to be Tor- Red and is listed as such in the DSAC registry.  Without a VIN, why do you think they are the same car?  Just asking.

The guys description story and timeline fit .That bird isnt matching numbers.I ran across a few when I lived in Houston. And brought cars into Houston fitting this one.If isnt this one. oh well.Sooner or later it will show up .I got a watchlist of cars I seen back in the day and what they were like .But he mentioned this car being in Houston. On another subject this wasnt thought to be the before of the Billy Card daytona. And was

Taking in account law of averages .And that I lived in Houston and can remember how many 426 superbirds on one hand .RM23ROA162306 and RM23ROA158581 stand out in my mind

that is one helluva bird. i would love to have it and shut up all the chebbys in this town.  I live in Ketchikan alaska and the chebby an ford guys just got a ww2 air strip opened up on an indian reservation metlakatla. so far we haven't brought any mopars there. a guy brought a new challenger there but according to the chebby guys it got its doors blown off.  found out the challenger just couldn't hook up too much power.

The drags are on youtube under (ketchikan kruzers races metlakatla)  I remember a bird with a dual turbo 440 in it years back. I can't imagine what driving that SUPER bird must be like  :2thumbs:

I still live in that area and I remember seeing that car in Closter parked next to a detached garage from 1977 until about '81 or '82. Always wondered what happened to it. I wasn't into "numbers" then but the car was locked and the dash tag was covered one time I looked at it. I spoke to a friend of mine this morning who looked at it also and he recalls that the owner wanted $5000.00. That seemed like an insane amount of cash then. Can't believe that it was a Hemi, 4-speed car. Care to fill in the blanks???

Story as I recall it went from Closter NJ to Route 33 Manalpan Twp .Where a friend pulled it out of a falling apart garage
