To be honest, he never said either way if the Charger concept in the pictures you posted were a real car or clay.  Frankly, I never thought to ask.
BTW, thanks for the cudos.

Then we would never know what it was! a real car or not most concept car have survive, and some not most are ad Mopar collectors but Nobody has this car so maybe it was not a real car we never know what it was :scratchchin:.

On the pictures it looks like a real car to me, because of the interior. ;)
If I had post this early on in the year 2006 we had the chance to ask him :'(.

Thought I heard once that car was supposed to have the new 426 street hemi in it but since the engine wasn't available it had the polyhead 318.

"This was the dedication of the altar, in the day when it was anointed, by the princes of Israel: twelve chargers of silver, twelve silver bowls, twelve spoons of gold..." -- Numbers 7:84 KJV

That was the 64 Polara built off Charger concept car, it kept it's 383 till it was restored. It was a open roadster with a cut down windshield.

According to the literature, it was supposed to come with a 426 but not a Hemi.

The 426 Max Wedge was still available in 1964 but the concept car was suppose to get the new Hemi. I can't see the concept 2 not being a real car, what happened to it?

Some of the styling cues from the '65 Charger II concept car appeared on the "Thunder Charger" movie car that George Barris built for the 1967 movie "Thunder Alley".  "Thunder Charger" started life as a '66 HEMI Charger.

Ok. Hold on to your shorts.  There was a 1965 Dart/Charger that was sold and on the road. Few were made, but I have seen a rag top and a hard top. Both at the 04" MATS...  Check this link.

Also I believe the 67-68 Newport came of that rear end...

Also I noticed there is no antenna. More than likely was a block of clay.

the charger designation on the dart referred to the "273 charger" motor, not that the dart was a charger, as one rag top owner likes to believe his is the "FIRST" charger, putting the charger script on the fender doesn't make it a charger

I really don't remember much about the two cars other than Charger emblems on both in the same places and a magazine article on the yellow and black rag top.  :shruggy:

yes they have the other emblems but they convienently leave off the 273 when they call it a Dart Charger, its a Dart Charger 273, without the motor you couldn't get the Dart Charger in the same sentence
Dodge had been designing/building the charger for over 2 years at this point, do you (no offense, i mean these owners) really think they named it a Charger so they could say it came out in 65?  of course the mags like controversey so they print what the owners say and that sells more copies since everyone wants to see the 65 Charger
with the Dart Charger 273 emblems already on the car the owners added the Charger script that we all know later on to create controversey, the Charger script emblem wasn't available anywhere in 64-65 when these cars were made, only when the Charger itself started production does a part number come up

the 65 was a california dealer option only, not a factory production vehicle from what i understand. so, literally, we can say the 65 dart/charger is just like the 70 daytona charger from a dealer standpoint (hehe  :stirthepot: )
67 Plymouth Barracuda, 69 Plymouth Barracuda, 73 Charger SE, 75 D100, 80 Sno-Commander

mauve66

but you might get a 70 Daytona with different motors, the 65 Dart Charger 273 ONLY came with that motor
