It appears to have a laser stripe from a Ford Torino or Later Charger decal stripe

Dave,
the Torino stripe did not taper like that....at least for the 70-71 models.

I used to have a red 71 Torino GT with the fake mag hubcaps with a similar looking stripe.Also had a 429 Drag Pack Torino Cobra Jet.I know Ive seen that stripe before or something similar.The charger stripe looks like it to.And the Ranchero also reminds me of it

I took that picture and one or two more returning from a vacation after graduation from college (Texas A&M... GIG 'EM!).  The picture was taken at a gas station on I-10, and the Superbird belonged to an employee (but he was running an errand, so I did not get a chance to talk to him).

I believe the stripe was an aftermarket item instead of a factory part from another brand of car...  :shruggy:

I had a superbird that came from Orange or Bridge city TX.And it found its way to Houston.And I worked at a Exxon off I-10 Dairy Ashford near memorial .And drove my wing cars to work.My car was same color but had no modifications

I keep all the lab equipment in the Biology Department going.  It's similar to what I was trained in the Air Force...Medical Equipment Repair.
