So here's the color layed down on the car finally.  I'm psyched!  I'm real happy with how it came out and can't wait to clear it today.  This is my fourth paint job and I learn more each time.  The biggest thing I know I've learned is that I'll never paint another damn car again! :nana:  I can replace metal all day long, but this bodywork stuff....it's for the birds!  But it's pretty satisfying seeing a pretty result.  Dan's thrilled, I'm relieved, and the wife is sad that it's not my car!  More to come later when I clear it.  Thanks for the help!

Cheers

Hmmm, finally figured out cardomain has a limit of 30 pages so I started a new site showcasing the reassembly.

And that's the car sitting in three coats of clear.  I decided to shoot three coats then wait a month for the clear to set before cutting and polishing.  I'm pretty happy with the results, not one run, and it's fairly even with minimal orange peel to sand out.  I got the whole front suspension, rear suspension, grille, and engine ready to go in next month.  I'm hoping it'll go together pretty quick!  Should be fun too since I get to spend someone else's money on new parts! :2thumbs:

Thanks for the compliments :icon_smile_big:

Did you do the jams at the same time as the exterior?

Yeah,  how I did the entire paint job was with the car fully assembled and all panels adjusted then I laid the color down in the trunk, interior, jambs, engine bay, etc.  I put three coats down in those areas for good coverage.  Waited a day and went back and wax/degreased the car and ran the tack cloth over it to get all the last bits of dust off (mainly overspray fallout), then shot three coats of color on the exterior.  Waited another day, degreased and tacked the car again then sprayed the interior, jambs, trunk, engine bay, etc with two coats then the exterior immediately afterwards with one light tack coat.  I let that flash for :30 minutes, then went back and applied a heavier second coat.  After another flash period, the third heaviest coat went down.  All the nooks have paint and you can't see any primer anywhere in the door hinge area or anything, so I'm pretty happy with how the coverage went.  You have to be sort of like a pretzel and bend all over the freakin' place to get everywhere, but that's half the fun!  :scratchchin:   A whole brand new suspension is waiting in the wings for reassembly next month.  The car should be rolling on it's on two feet soon ;D
