I was wondering if the rear window trim had any urethane/silicone that you have to put down before you install them? I was looking at my trim cleaning it and getting ready to install them but it looks like it has urethane gasket sealant on the backside of it from the previous owner.

Shouldn't need any type of adhesive if all the clips are there. They should hold the molding down on their own.
You might find that a previous owner had "glued" them down if the old clips had rusted away.
Absolutely anything could have happened in the last 40 years...
