Hey guys, I haven't been on here in a while and I thought I'd post where I am with my "daily driver" Daytona clone. I finally took it for it first drive and she ran great. I need to set up the suspension, put the wheelie bars and chute on her but even on a super hot Florida weekend and a heavy foot I drove her all over town and the temp stayed around 190 the whole time. Here's a couple pics.

i read the topic title and I thought "No-way"... but I was wrong...

I think what you're asking about is the radiator cap? The actual radiator is in the nose at an angle so it would be impossible to check and add water. The other thing in the front passenger side is the water tank for the inter-cooler.

68pplcharger

That an F3 ATI Procharger Supercharger from The Supercharger Store?

Haven't calculated that yet...I'm sure it's not going to be good ;D! but believe it or not it runs on 93 octane pump gas. If I change the pulley and run race fuel it'd bump it to 2500hp.

It's the F3 but I didn't get it from the Supercharger Store, I built a 416 small block for my 67 Barracuda I've had since I was 17 with an F1 from the Superstore and they're great but with this project I had the motor professionally built by Steve Morris Racing Engines.

I believe that would be measured in smiles per gal instead of mpg  ;)  All that meat under the rear gives a nice stance :yesnod:

Yeah right, don't you hate it when someone thinks they can improve on 40+ year old technology...  :o  Actually to me modifying these cars has always been a part of what makes them fun and great. When I was I younger the first thing we'd do to these old muscle cars is start adding bigger tires, intakes, headers, etc. I can't remember anyone I knew that was driving these cars around bone stock...except maybe the slant six cars!! While owning a museum car might be good in some cases as an investment, I'd rather build a car I can beat on and enjoy. And the Holy S#@$, responses are pretty cool too  ;)!

agreed.....wholeheartedly.
Remember the average response time to a 911 call is over 4 minutes.

The average response time of a 357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

Yeah, I know the headlights aren't quite "correct" but it was simple, cheap and will get me home in the dark  . My plan is to put some lightly tinted plexiglass covers over them to give it a more stock/correct look. Or maybe removable covers I can only take off when I need them.

I'm guessing the stock hood may encounter clearance issues? :icon_smile_big:

I'm guessing you're right... When I bought the body it came with a big, ugly cowl hood that I think I'll cut the cowl off, maybe leave a little 2 inch lip or so and let the rest stick up in the air for the world to see. Who knows, I may just drive it around with no hood!!

RD

that is just over the top!!! congrats on a great pro street look that has the performance to back it up X10!!!!

Oh, here is the dyno pull on Youtube. The engine was built for me by Steve Morris Racing Engines. We originally thought it would be somewhere around 1800Hp so everyone was pleasantly surprised when it broke the 2000 barrier. Never doubt the Mopar Hemi!!

Man that video was rowdy! Honestly I can't wrap my mind around what 2000+HP is like. 350HP is the most i've ever had. That's just an amazing.  I've always wanted to pop a wheelie down the street, if any car could do it, it would be yours.   :2thumbs:

Looks like you and I are of the same thinking process, both a little demented... :o! Once you get yours done I'd love to see the pictures of our cars side by side. A radical, blown Daytona and a radical turbo Superbird.

Brock Samson

I've been thinking about the Hood question and I remember more then ten years ago there was a trend  for what was then called "Bikini Hoods" these were on blower engined showcars I saw at the then still held Oakland Roadster show, any how - most of the hood was cut to clear the blower and in most cases allowing the original hood contours to be retained - while the outside edge of the hood still met the fenders cowl and nose in stock fashion... leaving a large hole within the stock hood, much more attractive then simply leaving the hood off, - However with your Turbo Tube a modification would be in order as shown below... Anyhow - it's just my two cents...  :shruggy:

I heard from my old mate Tom Nelson, anything over 1000hp on da street is lost in tyre smoke... :drive: :drive: :drive:

A 1000hp in my Street legal 68 Dart made 180mph @ 8.2 on da 1320, pump gas and street tyres...imagine doing that on da street...

The mind boggles... :D :D :D
