Can anyone tell me if Dodge made a wing car in 1978?I am looking at a 1978 Dodge Magnum XE that says Datona on the rear quarters and has the big Datona wing on it.The owner says the wing is factory.I looked on the internet and I have found a few pictures of these cars with the wing. However I cant verify that they were factory options or were intended to be this way.
Any help would be great!

Wonder where would they have gotten a wing to fit like that?It looks right on the car.And I cant find a place that makes anything for the car as far and resto parts even.

The only thing that could be refered to as a wing in 77-78 timeline .This Charger daytona .That silver car looks like a Magnum wing replica

there is one in topeka, the place (used car dealership) did a quickie paint job (terrible mind you) and slapped a daytona sticker on the side and was asking $3500 for the car.  The guy tried to convince me that it was completely "original" and came from the factory that way.  i then explained to him, politely mind you, that he was full of kaka and commenced to educate him on the difference between a magnum, a 69 daytona, and a 77-78 daytona.  I then offered him $750 for the POS that they totally screwed up and he didnt smile :D  ( I was internally though )

Well Allrighty then! Thanks for the post.I did go see the car tonight. It was a cheap wing and a truly awful paint job!So they must all come from the same place.I did like the looks of this car but MAN would it take a lot to make it look like it should.I then found an old sale listing on the net where the guy who has the car now paid (yes you guessed it) 3500.00 and was lead to believe it was an original factory car.Well the price on this one went down to 1300.00 and I have declined.(that should say everything that needs said)Thanks to all who responded to this post.As time goes on these cars may be collectable but they ARE NOT DATONA's and NOT WING CARS!

I have a T-top triple black magnum with 58k actual miles that I got from the widow of the original owner for sale.  360 4bbl (non  lean burn), auto, 3.21 9 1/4 rear axle.  Runs and drives well.  Interior good.  Needs body and paint from sitting outside.  Comes with a pair of used fenders.  Been in my storage for the last several years.  I would take $950 cash for it.  In Nebraska......

  :scratchchin: it's spelled "DAYTONA"  :eyes:

daytonalo

I would rather drive a Kia

mauve66

even though i'm using a tona wing i would never think of putting a "DAYTONA" decal on it or calling it one, though someone may think about it 20 years from now after i'm long gone

been thinking of a large "BOEING" decal though...................
