The ad car formerly belonged to Chrysler Engineering also featured as a cover car and show car.My guess is Dale Reeker 287970 which is a SE 4 spd .Or even maybe the Press release car magazine cover with taped out headlights. Also found another ad for the last FJ5 hemi superbird and a 1971 used car ad for a 69 daytona for $1888.00

Yes, that is Dale Reeker car . I  own this car and had found a warranty book in the car from East Cleveland Dodge. It shows being sold on 10-16-69.

Man Dave, where do you come up with this stuff? Do you have a subscription to http://www.newspaperarchive.com/ ? I was trying to look for something out of a paper in Paducah, Ky back in '69 for Parker Dodge. Wouldn't it be cool if I could find an original ad for my Daytona.  :yesnod:

Didn't know you were posting much on the site. I hope you stick around a bit.  I have been meaning to swing out to check out the car lately, but just haven't gotten around to it. Seems every time I think I"ll have some free time something else pops up.

Amazing how cheap they were at one time.

Not really,....when you consider the average (middle income) in 1970 was $6100 a year,..... even that used 69 Daytona for $1888, that ad is probally no older than 1972, the middle income was still no more than $7000

John (#501) asked that I post the page from his warranty booklet with the dealership stamp.  Pretty neat stuff, although the April delivery date is likely when the warranty clock started running.  October is probably when Mr. Hodge picked the car up.

I got 2 warranty booklets with Doc. One for the crazy kids that bought it with the bum check and the other for the good doctor. Problem is - the pages are all stuck together. I guess I should send them to a museum to see if they can safely un-stick them.....for a fee   ;D

69daytona

Hi all,
Just a little thanks to Johntpr for the lead to this site.  I'm the original owner of the 69 Daytona shown in the Capitol Dodge ad.  Someone had mentioned earlier about the price of the cars.  About a year after purchasing my Daytona, I quit my job due to an ongoing divorce and took a 50% cut in pay.  Hard to imagine it now but at the time, it was very hard for me to be able to make the $86.00 a month car payments and had to sell it.  Unlike most other Daytona and Plymouth Superbird owners, I was lucky to find a buyer, Jack Buttino, who kept the car garaged and in it's original shape.  Over the years, the Daytona has had 2 other owners who have also kept the car in top condition.  John, You are a credit to the car and the memories of it's previous owners.
Thanks
Leon
Dave,  There was an article and picture on the Daytona in either the Trenton Times or Trentonian Newspapers but I'm not sure of the year.

nascarxx29

Welcome 69 Daytona. Ive been looking and seen your activitys in the Trenton evening times .But not find much else on your old daytona.Other than the Capitol Dodge ad.And on this link is the daytona shiplist not always 100% accurate as car were known to be dealer traded. The Ad shows Capitol Dodge .List might say something different. But your account is 1st hand. And its on the list confirmed
