Jim, In your travels have you ever ran accrossed a very low milage 6 barrel lime green Bird that was orginally from Iowa? When I saw it last it had around 17,000 miles pretty much mint as it was stored and owned by someone who took great care.

There are a couple nice Lime ones out there....can't remember where they were from though.....too cold up here - brain is frozen!

This one was bought new by a guy I used to work for in Ossian Iowa . He had to sell it to settle his divorce. It sold for like 8 grand back in 1987 to someone in Wisconsin. Unless that car has has some really bad care since then it would have to be right up there with yours.

"World's Best"

Kinda like the diner with the "World's Best Cup of Coffee" from the movie Elf?

Just kiddin' Jim!  Great Car.

Yea - "The World's Best" wasn't from me.......The people that judged it all said it was the best they have ever seen......which was kinda why I bought it when I had the chance.
There are a bunch of nice ones out there.

Jim,
Very nice Superbird! Congrats on the magazine article! I will definately use the pictures as we redo ours this fall!

Congrats there Jim. Haven't had the luck of getting a peek at that car in person. Maybe one of these days. I know the last year or so I'd threated to swing up there to Canada to take a peek at some of your cars. But man I hear its a bit chilly up that way this time of year. Maybe I should do it in the summer when it actually gets above 50 right?

maxwellwedge

I think we may hit 50 sometime later this week..................for a day or two then back to the 30's.   :icon_smile_dissapprove:

Jim,
The first one I need is of the screws that hold the rub strip to the nose cone. I sold my old cone with the rub strip and now have nothing to go by!
Thanks! :shruggy:

Hey John - When I said "just ask" I didn't mean right away!

I'll have a peek for you.

hemigeno

When are they coming out to shoot the rest of your collection, Jim?  Every car in your garage is equally worthy of a magazine spread, some might even qualify for their own "World's Best" title too...

maxwellwedge

Ah Shucks - Thanks Geno.

Still two that were shot to come out.

Coming back to do Doc and a couple of others.

Damn, you didn't even mention me.

Very Nice Jim  :2thumbs:

I agree.   My bird is in the disassemble stage and lord knows what I will need to put it back together.  The article was both exciting to read and a bit daunting.   All those "little" things.

My goals is to have it look "show room ready" - prepped by the dealer, cleaned up, and ready to sell.

Topher

This car was at John's house when I went and looked at what would become my car a couple years later. I walked right by it and his Daytona to go out back to see my future 67 Charger. I remember going "wow, that's cool" but didn't have a clue what I was looking at! I was 16 at the time and had a 72 Chevelle. I also remember seeing Hemi valve cover hanging from the rafters in his barn and thinking "dang those are huge!" That's a nice car you have, I enjoyed reading the article.

Yep, he still has it. In '06 when the Charger turned 40, there was a display in one of the garages at CMS during the Auto Fair and my buddies Ken, Tony, and John were in it. They asked my oldest son Josh to back the Daytona out of the trailer because he was the only one skinny enough to get in it! That made his day. I believe they even had the pic of Geoff sliding down the back window as a child on the seat.

I don't know where the car came from originally. If you want to send me a copy of the ad via email, I'll make sure he gets a printed copy of it. I still see him quite often during the cruzing seaason.

I bought my '69 Charger in April. Springfield Dodge, PA was my dealer and had 3 Daytonas on the lot. In December, I crunched the grille and hood when I skidded on ice. Springfiled made me an offer of my car and $1000 to take home either one of the 2 440 Daytonas or $1800 for the Hemi (yeah, they were still on the lot). But unable to get reasonable insurance and not wanting that distictive a police attention grabbing car, I declined.

What diid I know?
