60k can buy a pretty damn good offroad vehicle.

The H2 is not among those vehicles.  The new H3 even less so.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

I think 60 can build you a pretty good offroad vehical. Not many 60, 000 one drive off the lot and can climb through mud holes....

How many cars got wrecked because of a low performance driver? In other words someone that was a better driver may not have got stuck.

Many.

I once had a '67 Dart GT with cheater shackles on the springs, and cranked up torsion bars that would let me go places dudes driving Ford Rangers and Baja Beetles couldn't make it in to.

The shock factor was awesome. Nobody could believe it - until I pointed out that their differentials were as high off the ground as the one on my Dart, regardless of how much money mommy or daddy put into body lift kits for them.

Heh-heh-heh.
Sixty-eights look great and the '69 is fine.
But before the General Lee there was me - Headrope.

What is a great off road vehicle?  I've seen more that a few Hummers stuck in Iraq.  I could get any vehicle stuck under the proper conditions, hell I saw a British Challenger tank (M1 Abrams) roll over as it was crossing a canal, and 2 of the 3 guys died in the incident.

Sorry, I'm not trying to bring this thread down, and I can definetly reap in the satisfaction of seeing some stupid yuppie worry about their 60,000$ vehicle that they get stuck in the mud, but sh-t happens we all know that.  It doesn't make it any less capable than any other vehicle out there.

this part is the best part of the whole thread (  :scratchchin: makes you wonder how often it can be applied in this forum?)

How many forum posters does it take to change a light bulb?

1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed

14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently

7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs

27 grammar Nazis to point out spelling/grammar errors

53 to flame the spell checkers

41 to correct spelling/grammar flames

6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb"

6 to condemn those 6 as anal-retentive

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp"

27 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs

14 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's

12 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy

4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ

44 to ask what is a "FAQ"

4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"

143 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs"

1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again…

If you go offroad with any frequency, you WILL get stuck.  Its not a matter of "if," its a matter of "when."  It doesn't matter what you're driving.  I had an unlifted wrangler with slightly larger tires and I pulled a couple of FJ40s, a Land rover, an F150, a Bronco, and a couple of Blazers (Blazers seemed to puke out their trannies if they were lifted and got stuck).  Funny thing is, one of those blazers had actually come to rescue ME when I was stuck in the mud.  He got stuck and broken in the process and I had to dig out and help him out.

Where I come from (at least when I was "Jeepin') the unofficial, unspoken rule of the trail was that, if you came upon someone who was stuck, you helped them out, or, if you couldn't, you went for help.  Everyone talked BS about who drove the better offroad vehicle (with the bobtail guys it was always Wranglers and CJs VS Samurais VS FJ40s VS Land Rovers) but the BS stopped when someone needed a pull.   At least until you got them out and then, good-natured ribbing ensued.
I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

I have done that when I was in the Army crossing a texas river.  It was a blast.  You just have to make sure your intake doesnt get water up near it like that guys did.  I bet his engine sucked in some water on that run.  He needs the water forging package.

mud holes like that or deep mud at all is not a good test for a standard 4W drive I think, anything will get stuck in a hole like that unless it has super swamper with a high lift and posi traction.  to really test a standard 4WD is steep hills and rugged hard or rock terrain.  don't get me wrong, I have seen reports on hummers on the speed channel and there not that good.  I would take my 65 scout, 66 jeep wagoner or my CJ5 I use to have anyday over those H2's :yesnod:

The H1 is awesome.     The H2 is a Chevy Tahoe or Silverado or something with a different body on it, right?     I like saying to those yuppies, "Hey, nice Chevy".

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

SeattleCharger

Here is a H2 trying to drive on a rocky trail, busts a tie rod.  Driver error?   POS?   Any rig can bust a tie rod, but still funny.   Makes it look pretty sad.
