I started my project a while ago and sold all of my Janak parts to Larry and bought steel parts and a Dane wing. Larry did the vega back glass and trunk mod a year or so ago. this past fall his son painted the engine bay so I could get going again. Well its getting there.

BigBlockSam

i like those big front wheels . what size are they? i learned the hard way that if you wanna go fast with these wing cars you need a big front foot print

They fit. Only I have to cut the front fenders  :hack: Oh well. They are 15x9.5 vintage nascar wheels on one side and current nascar wheels on the other. I haven`t decided which to run yet. The tires are 275 60 15`s. The lwr front valance will have to be modified to fit. I have 4" of ground clearance between the headers and ground. My pan is 3/4 inch below the K frame so I need a skid plate for it.

BigBlockSam

nice! your building a nice race car there . keep the pics coming

That'll be interesting to see.. I'm looking to get a set of vintage Grand National wheels as well with Goodyears....  Magnum 500's I have would be for some indoor shows and the NASCAR look would be for everyday enjoyment....

Finally getting time to work on the car. No one wanted just the shell I had so I have been pluggin away and here is where I am now. Will be locating the nose next week.

Howie

Here is a view with the nascar wheels I bought off ebay. They are dated 1970.  9.5 wide bead to bead 5 on 5 BP. Gonna have to cut and radius the front fenders so she`ll turn.

Both cars are way too cool!!  I love the vintage NASCAR wheels. What all did you have to replace on the Charger to give it a 5 on 5 pattern?

I used adjustable upper control arms with the 2 inch drop spindles. I had the lwr cont arms boxed and firm feel adjustable strut rods. The spindles are grand national spindles and I went to IBT for bearings. The outter was not available so I had a spacer made  for it. I called wilwood and told them what I have and they set me up with the calipers to use. Disc all the way around.

Howie

:o The spindles are mopar drop spindles and the hubs are buick grand national. :icon_smile_big:

Quotenice! your building a nice race car there

You are really gonna race it or is it just for looks? Either way I like it, but I like it MORE if you race it  :drool5:

I thought he said they were real GN spindles.   If so, they are larger and much beefier than stock B-body parts.

Howie

The spindles are the 2 inch drop spindles I ordered from magnum force. The hubs I got from mittler brothers and is a grand national hub. The bearings didnt fit as they dwarfed the mopar bearings. IBT bearings cross referenced the inner bearing with a smaller ID for the spindle. The outter is not to be had so I had a bushing fabricated for those.  The wheels are double center  buick and pontiac welded in a custom hub. This was done by hollowman and moody way back in the 60`s and early 70`s. That gives you your 5 on 5 bp

Daytona R/T SE

My '72 Imperial has a 5 on 5 bolt pattern.

I wonder if the Imperial spindle/bearings/rotor could be used for this wheel set up :scratchchin:

:shruggy: Dunno if the imperial set up will work. I wanted it on the ground and went the modern route. Sam here`s that pic you wanted

Larry (HotRod) got my nose and used it on the black daytona he built as I had a friend who was gonna make a couple out of steel. Well here she is but not finished yet. I also have a new nose from Janak which I picked up friday while visiting family. Now over christmas break it will be thrashing time.

Howie

Got a liittle more done over the christmas break. Got the doors and fenders located so I could measure and cut my fenders.  A friend and charger 500 owner was cringing when I told him I had lowered my car and was getting ready to cut. Oh well. 3 years ago I couldn`t give this shell away so I gathered fenders doors and here I am. Its starting to come together.
