Im not sure who decoded his BS but those wheels dont code out for a 70 Mopar. :P I wish they did because I think the 15" magnums are the best muscle era wheel going.
wingless now, but still around.

LRTExpress

Are wheel type indicated on the fender tag, or can they be part of a package upgrade ( ie Track Pac )

Im not a code expert by any means but I know that magnums were not available after 68 model year.

AFAIK, theres no code on the tags for wheels.

I thought magnums were available on 69's?

Road Wheels (aka "Magnums" ) were available after - just not in chrome....they got the trim ring. Never as a 15" on a Mopar.

But didn't all Hemi-equipped cars in '70 come with 15-inch wheels standard (steelies or Rallyes) or was that a '68-'69 thing (steelies with wheel covers of hub caps (doggies))?

Starting in 1970 - You could get a 14" Road Wheel on a Hemi B-Body (not E-Body).

Yes - the 68-69's (not sure about the 66-67's) a 15" wheel was mandatory on a Hemi.....so they were all steelies.  :icon_smile_big:

no and no...the tags don't show 'em and wheel upgrades were independent of axle packages

Unless, and I could be wrong, 69-down super track pack cars were mandatory 15" cars

WINGIN IT

On this car specfically they mentioned that it had 14" wheels, and at first they did look like the chrome magnum 500s but on a different shot it just looked like a CHROME trim ring on Road Wheels , as opposed to brushed.

Aero426

The car had 14" Rallye wheels in the old days when it was owned in Louisiana.   This is probably late 70's, early 80's.    The engine bay was still yellow.    I would assume it was born with Rallyes.

WINGIN IT

at 3:54 of the auction they mention the Road Wheels are factory to the car.
Then a few seconds later you'll see it roll away, with a view of the PS rear wheel, showing the chrome trim ring.

Man, I remember that car !!!! I've seen in plenty of times in Ron D.'s garage. It has moved on now since his passing, but it was one COMPLETE car and yes, it had Rallyes on it. I didn't recall if they were 14's or 15's. But now in hindsight, they were 14's.......

Here is another view from several years later.   This is about 1985.    Some of the new is wearing off.

If memory serves me, I do remember that yellow when Ron opened the hood. He mentioned it needed a lot of work in the rear sheetmetal-wise (doesn't surprise me since it was from Lousiana).

I APPOLOGIZE!!!! :nutkick:
I guess I need to retract my original observation! I only looked at the pictures. After watching the video from BJ IT does indeed have trim rings on the wheels. :P

so can anyone shed light on the polished trim rings? I dont recall seeing too many of them.
