                                                            REPLACEMENT TRUNK FLOOR!
With the frame rails in primer it was now time to start on the replacement trunk floor. The floor is an original out of a rust free car that was parted out years ago. The floor was REDI-STRIPPED also. The attached pictures show differant views of the floor. The guys were trimming off the extras that were cut out with the floor. Next they were going to weld up a few of the extra holes that were drilled and start fitting it! I can't wait till it's welded in!

That's nice work and all, but if they really want to impress me they'd turn your old trunk floor back into an Imperial hood

Doug,
There is a picture of the old Imperial hood with the trunk floor cut out of it on my B5 Daytona story! It is on page 4 and the reply is dated Jan 4th 2010! The guys at the shop are not real happy with my old body work as it was all brazed together. The REDI-STRIP process does not remove the old brazing material and it kind of melts as it is ground off!
On another note I have been working on saving the individuality of my Superbird. Kind of like you and mom leaving the black fender scoops on the B5 bird. Watch for deatils soon!

NOS QUARTER PANEL PREP AND TRUNKLID PREP!!
While there is time between other work several items were being prepped at the shop. The NOS quarter panels were sanded down and primed on the back side. Next the sound deadner was sprayed on. I have attached a couple of pictures of this work going on the passengers side quarter! With this work complete the quarters are ready to be fitted to the Superbird body when the trunk floor is installed!
Next up is the trunklid! It was REDI-STRIPPED also and then sanded. Troy asked me what I had put into that trunk as it had several dings in it from the bottom side. We'll I've hauled all kinds of stuff in there including tables and chairs used at national meets. The third picture shows the sanded trunklid with the dings repaired and the last picture shows the bottom side in primer ready to fit on the body also! ENJOY!

And then there were the big flower pots with evergreen trees in them.Pot was 2 feet tall by 22 inches across.Trees were 5 feet tall. Took bucket seat out,put pot on rocker, put door against pot,put rope from door handle to rear seat belt.Took two of them home like that. That's what you do when you don't have a truck. That was around 1975.Bird still lives with161.000 miles..Rick.  :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :nana:

                                                               440 SIX PACK DECALS!!
We'll I had some discussion a while back about my 440 SIX PACK T/A style fender decals. Here is what I have decided! Too many cars are loosing their identity when they are restored. We are going back to the original white wing and quarter decals that our Superbird was born with! For many years there were no quarter decals and no nose decals as I had planned to restore the Superbird. A while back I found some 2/3 size Direct Connection black Plymouth decals and put them on the quarter panels. When the Superbird is done we are going to put the 440 SIX PACK decals back on the front fenders but they are going to be white to match the quarter and wing decals! I have taken a picture of one still in the package sitting on an orange door to give you an idea of what it's going to look like! So when you see black decals it will be pre restoration and white decals will be post restoration!

                                                        HAPPY NEW YEAR!
After seeing Jeff's EK2 Superbird update it motivated me to post about our EK2 Bird! This post is about the doors! Once the Superbird was disassembled Troy and the guys removed the old door skins before sending the frames to REDI-STRIP! This would help clean up all the seam areas before the new NOS skins would go on! The first two pictures are of the drivers door frame primered inside and out. The last two pictures are of the passengers door frame primered inside and out.

                                               SUPERBIRD DOORS CONTINUED!
Once back from REDI-STRIP the door frames looked to be in very good shape! There were a couple of small areas such as where one of the weatherstrip clip holes were that needed some attention. Once the door frames were in primer it was time to install the NOS door skins! The second and third pictures show the original part numbers stenciled on the skins! The last picture shows the door frames with the NOS skins now fitted on them. The skins were attached and the doors stored away ready for installation on the body!
I am now out of pictures and will have to wait for the next invoice to share the progress! STAY TUNED!
