Can I replace full quarter on just one side?

Ive never done a repair panel in my life. Ive got a small lincoln handy mig 110v that ive bought for my charger's bodywork but ive been using it for exhaust work lately. Anyways, 69 charger, drivers quarter panel is in really good shape except for your usual rust eaten out of the lower rear of the panel. (orange is where there is no metal)(Red is where there are dents) On the other hand, the passenger side has about the same amount of rust but a couple medium sized dents 4-5" and its rippled where the R/T emblem goes. So, I was thinking of replacing the passenger side with a full replacement and the drivers with a lower skin. I have 2 skins from year one that came with the car. they go from almost the fuel cap to the trunk extensions and I was planning on using those. What do you think?
Thanks alot!

PASSENGER SIDE:  There is also a dent above the body line on top, forgot to color that part.

You should be able to fix those with just patch panels, depending on how much filler/paint you have on there.

terrible one

I agree. A good bodyman should be able to work the dents out and patch the quarter. From what you indicated in your pics you don't have much rust compared to many others. How are the wheel wells? If you can easily afford the AMD full quarter that is the easiest route but if money is tight I would repair what you have.

The inner wheel wells will probably need some patch at the bottoms. The tops of the wheel wells though seem to be solid. I havent taken any paint off but the feel of it feels solid. I was thinking i would replace all of the metal that was rusted/missing, smooth it out to the best of my ability, and have a body shop fix small dents and do finishing. Hopefully save a little money doing it that way. Im thinking of doing it that way. At least ive got the full skins to work with. the quarters arent that bad but the taillight panel and rear valance i had to cut out, it was eat up pretty bad. I cut a taillight panel from a 70 charger that is in great condition. The panel, not the donor car. :icon_smile_big:

Seeing as how I have NO tail light panel either, im probably gonna have to buy a tail light panel along with the 1/4s and clamp them together? just to make sure both 1/4s are straight. because I dont have anything to weld to back there but the trunk extensions.  :brickwall:

Clamp or screw together everything first! Fit the decklid, rear glass, bumper, everything... before you weld.  :Twocents:

there is no other way around it, if you want all parts to fit right and have proper gaps, you must have all sheetmetal on the car fitted before welding
