Thanks Bob and Fred -

I just had an amazing Fathers Day weekend with my family. Been working on a car so that Justin and I could do a final car show with two Daytona's. I'm selling the Yellow one, so we set this weekend and this car show at Seaside OR, to be the Swan Song for the yellow car. Everything worked perfectly, great weather, Justin got off work, Jill took off work, Gab came and loved the trip over by riding with Justin, Joel had a blast; something for everyone. The only surprise was that my Yellow car won the trophy - go figure. We also got the premier show case - the middle of an intersection - parked together.

Oh, and by the way, the 572 HEMI got 14 MPG on the way over (127 miles - over half full when I got there). My 440 does not do that. My rear end, cam, combo for the 572 HEMI - is everything I was looking for, power (713hp & 736 trq), quickness, cruising speeds (70 MPH @ 2800), and now gas mileage for great cruising range. I know people did not believe me, but the proof is in actual reality and not someone's doubts :) ;)

Was you being towed? ha ha!!   :icon_smile_big:

But seriously, it's always great to hear of someone's super day out.  Enjoying their hobby to the fullest. I'm guessing it will be a Father's Day to remember.   :2thumbs:

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

My boy, who went and got the trophy, said that, "this is awesome Dad", "Best Muscle Car". My favorite to win because I actually beat the Furds and Chebys in this class.

Good thing I did not bring my Yellow one :) ooops, not mine now  :rotz:

I know exactly where your coming from. I got 15 mpg with my 526 stroked hemi. People I told about it looked at me like who does this guy think he is spewing such bs. I wasn't running the crap out of it but I wasn't putting around either.

My wife Jill...

I have the best wife ever. For my 50th, she got me into and scheduled "Hot August Nights". Staying at Circus Circus (since we are bringing Joel), and showing the car at Casino Area. Now I have to find a good trailer. I don't feel comfortable taking my family in a Daytona with no air in August. I will either rent from someone, or buy one, depending on the price.

I have never been here so any wisdom for me would be appreciated.

You are funny Bryan = Yes, I have heard that. I have friends that go every year - they say it is a different heat, than say Texas, but it will be a one time experience.

Will a 4 core radiator fit my car with a stock fan distance? How much thicker are they?

Dane

Same, call Bob at glen-ray radiators and see what he says. I have one of his 3 row max cool units in mine with a stock hemi clutch fan. Runs nice and cool.

Who bought the yellow car?

You might contact Tom Benson.  He has an open trailer he might rent you.  If not, he may know of someone with an enclosed as well.

Thanks man, I am looking at a new one for 2300.00 16' and low profile. The 18' was too high - didn't like. So I know the car will overhang a foot on each end, did it before and it looked OK. I like the open trailers because I want to be a rolling car show :) If Tom has a nice one I might go that rout, but using others stuff always scares me.

PIR, Portland International Raceway - Called "Beaches", great show, I'm guessing 1000 cars, Drove my car 60 miles, hot, stop and go July 3rd traffic, temp stayed at 190 to 200, but not sure it will hold up to 90+ Hot Aug nights weather driving. Still trying to figure that out...

Dane,
The blue car looks great, it looks like a FOOSE creation.. ( I've been watching a lot of "Overhaulin" lately, enjoy the show but he wouldn't use his creative genius on my Daytona )..  :icon_smile_big:

Both those Venues you showed looked for cool and fun.............. So, there is car action in the Northwest without constant rain.............

My fear with foose is that he would two tone a Daytona. He is a predictable two toner on most everything - or flames - that to me is just outdated no matter how hard they try to update it. They need to let the old flames die out - with big metal flake :) These cars need no fancy paint schemes - the car speaks for itself. The creativity is in subtleties, by cleaning up the cars rough edges around windows, trim, openings, with modern updates. Even adding the new challenger fuel cap I could see working; it even opens the right way.  I would even like to see someone update the hood, lengthen it, and get rid of the louvers, then hiding the wipers. Most likely this is way too much work than it is worth, but I have never seen it done on these (except for the new Chargers/challengers re-skinned as a 2nd gen).

Well I hate that you don't like the two tone deal cause that's what I have in mind for mine. Anyway I have been tinkering with the idea of doing something more modern with the wiper treatment and what you suggest sounds interesting. While I think I can do the recessed cowl area which will hide the wiper arms I would need a longer custom windshield to hide the  blades. I have to do something in that area to make the wiper motor serviceable anyway.
I might just have to have the cowl be removable. We'll see.

Daytona Guy

Stevearino : Dude, you do amazing work, do as you please. I'm not a two tone guy, unless it was a silver Coud Rolls :). This is what makes the MOPAR world go round. Make a killer two tone and people will laugh at me :)

Here are some amazing pics from a guy who was hanging out his window on our way to the coast, I got a pic of him doing this, thinking, I will never see the guy. I ran into him at the beach, and he just emailed me these pics - He is from Utah ... Must say these are some of the best pics of these two cars together ever...
