Excellent buy Allen. Send that tag up here and I'll keep it safe for you. :smilielol:  :smilielol: I been looking for one of those to safeguard.  :D  Seriously though Gene and I have had discussions on the correct color tag the 4618SA should have and you are yet another person to confirm he is right as usual. I'm interested in the date code on that tag too.

As some of you know, I was diagnosed with Parkinson's in August of 2009 after 3+ years of related symptoms were wrongly diagnosed as something else.  The progression of the disease is beginning to have a significant impact on my "out of control" hobby, and I have already sold my Superbird, Hemi `Cuda, and several  other neat Mopars.  Although I am nowhere near being out of the hobby,  I would like to eliminate my debt, or at least the bulk of it...

Enter the Daytona, it seems to be the most valuable car that I own... even in it's current wrecked/unrestored condition!  Once you look past the mangled front end frame rails, you begin to notice how close to rustg-free this California / Texas car is.  It was wrecked in 1979, and I bought it about 9 years later, and has spent virtually all of the 39 years that I have owned it inside storage... below are recent pictures.

Maybe it is not worth much at all, and then I will keep it!!!

So have a look at the pictures in this old thread, and give me a WIW estimate and your reasoning/evidence to back it up...

Thanks,

Allen

allen, while i only know you through the forum here, i was somewhat aware of the health issues. so sorry to hear of the progression, and that the car may be sold. should you be offering some of the extra daytona front end parts later on, and hope to see them go on a true xx car, i'd love to discuss them with you. available funds may do me in, but i'd love to have a shot at gathering some parts to start putting 409053 back together. drop me a message at your leisure, should you be so inclined. God bless, and take care

I'm looking for a passenger side nose to fender seal if you happen to have one or know somebody that does. Thanks

I know for a fact who I sold my z brackets to that you mention was included in your friends parts package.Must be a coincidence my.02
http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,46821.0.html

When I purchased my Daytona in the late 1980s, the entire frontend sheetmetal  of the car was missing.  I later acquired a very nice set of 1970 Charger fenders & hood to convert, as well as a mint set of fender scoops.  I am still missing the entire nose assembly, although I picked up Larry's repro nose brackets for the car.  I have been planning to buy a reproduction metal nose & related parts (Z braces, headlight buckets, etc), but have held off in the hope better reproductions would come out.  The parts recently on eBay peaked my interest...

A long-time friend offered to sell me some original Daytona parts:

1) A pair (L&R) of Daytona 'Z' Braces (nose cone 'ribs'), in nice condition, but with small access holes cut in flat areas of each (should be easily repaired).

2) A nice used original Daytona nose shell with minimal body filler for earlier damage...

...OR, a NOS Daytona nose shell  (He will keep one of the nose cones and sell the other).

WIW: 1) Pair of used Z braces needing minor repair
        2) Used nose cone needing minor repair
        3) NOS nose cone

As I said, he is a friend and I want to pay a price that reflects current fair market value for these parts...

Sorry, no pictures of the parts at the moment... here is a old photo of my Daytona tho...

Thanks for your help,

Allen

Why yes Dave, your selling the "z" brackets to a well known vendor that my friend also traded with was a coincidence, but not Earth shattering.  As for the Nose Cone, my friend purchased it directly from an employee of K&K Insurance in the late 1970s....  BTW, you have my permission to post that information in the 318 forums that you frequent...

Scored a Carter AVS 4618SA carb for the Daytona for $90 including shipping...  The carb was on eBay with a starting bid of $79... no bids...
