It must be comforting for an original owner to be able to say they are the only one who has ever farted in the seat.   :smilielol:
As far as my Daytona goes the back seat has far more interesting stories to tell then the front seats.

With my 500 it was the dealership owners personal car before I got it.  I here ya on the seats, been there did that and would love to do it again :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:

i think there may be two different interpretations of this thread's title. i find pettybird's answer the most amusing, although im thinking jim meant how many cars are still with their original owner. the good doctor has parted ways with his car, so he wouldnt qualify under the latter definition.

It's like the question "do they have a fourth of July in England?"

I did it to be funny...don't know why Dave keeps posting stuff about a car that isn't in its original owner's hands any more.

Did anybody actually order their car, or did they just get what was at a dealer?  And did the dealers get to order the car for their dealership, or was that determined at some higher level?

a customer ordered car would not usually be kept in inventory, so you have to wonder where it spent the six months in between? it seems a sold car would arrive at the dealership within a week or two of the ship date, and be in the owner's hands pretty quickly. i've not seen the ship list to know what date dad's car (#302) shipped from creative, but it was in dad's possession by mid september.

dad was aware of these cars being built beforehand, and says he did see a photo of one. he told the dealership that he dealt with about wanting one, and says there was no discussion of what color or how to equip it. dad said he just assumed they would all be built the same way. the salesman told him no problem, that they would get the car. id like to think the dealer optioned it when ordering, but cant confirm that. larry's superbird was bought from the son of the dealership owner  this daytona came from. i guess i should to track the son down, to see what history he might recall.

Heres the paperwork guy bought all his car from this same dealer.Saw a daytona at Kardon dodge MT Holly NJ .And went to his PA dealer.Requesting a 69 daytona

The sales invoice showed final price $5155.75.As I recall it had the dealer temp paperwork when it was driven off Quaker Citys Dodge lot daytona annoucement card etc.The purchasing owner gave me all kinds of papework& copies .The reciept he couldnt find was after few weeks paint flaked off window plug area,He saved the original fanbelts and everything from this 22.000 mile car parked in 1977.

Is it possible that the quaker city, PA location made a dealer trade for the car? Is quaker city the ship list destination and name on the window sticker, or just the selling dealer?  if the car had spent several months sitting on another lot, that dealership would have been more than happy to dealer trade it. what month was it that the original buyer saw a daytona on the NJ dealer's lot?  Did he request quaker city to find him one, or did he sit down and check off the spec sheet, and then place the order directly with chrysler? chances are that most of the cars had already been down chrysler's assembly line, when he saw the daytona in NJ.

We were in Tennessee when our car arrived at the dealership in Indiana, in September. While there, Dad saw a green daytona at the dealership in Nashville. He said the car was completely wrapped in heavy brown paper, and the only way to see the color was in small places where people had torn back the paper. the dealership was closed at the time, so he never did find out why it was wrapped in paper. The TN car was apparently car #46 on the ship list, while ours is #302. A second daytona owned here locally, car #94, was also on the street in september, just before ours. All three cars were on the dealership lots within days of each other in early to mid september, so it just doesnt seem possible that car #381 was customer ordered and delivered so many months later. Would quaker city use it for promotional purposes, before handing it over to someone who ordered it? Maybe it falls under the "just got what was at a dealer" part of the original question.

Damn, i ask a lot of questions.
