Superbird Hood

I am currently repairing my hood and on the underneath, up the front near the latch tray, there is a dented rectangular hole.
Maybe somebody just left a tool under the hood and slammed it shut. Before it is repaired, I wanted some thoughts as to what it looks like and wether it should be repaired.I have to ask  this question, as I don't have a reference vehicle to look at. Thanks

I'll look at mine but it looks like someone hammered a screwdriver up into it to maybe tap out a dent.   :scratchchin:
