281 is a Houston area code.........  :scope:  Maybe it's the one I saw at Autorama owned by the same gent who owns the speedboat company?

I just saw that ad somewhere else.  It said the guy is getting married, and this was why he was selling.  I almost left him an email and said "Don't get married if you have to sell the car!"
My name is Mike and I'm a Moparholic!

What? In my actual wedding vows, Kim states " I will love, honor, cherish you and never make you sell your Mopars"........... For real.... In front of God, military & family.....   :icon_smile_big:

If it's an original 6 pack car, and number's matching, I think it's a fair price.
We had a member here selling a number's matching 6 pack for $90K over the summer for point of reference.
Not sure if it sold or not.

Saw some more pictures of the car from a gentleman who's asking my opinion on the car. I'm not at liberty to share pictures now, but suffice it to say the car is VERY solid and nice. Minor detailing things here and there with the engine compartment would need to be done..

Did you see it?

How was it?

Did it sell?

The guy who's interested in buying it here locally called me to talk about it and I "Govier-ed" the pictures he sent me... I've seen the fender tag.

Solid car from what I've seen. Apparently the car's not here in Houston. It's somewhere not too far. The Houston number is for the guy who's helping the lady sell it.

I got a look at the car tonight.   It has found its way to Milwaukee in the hands of the new owner.    It belonged to Mike Higgs years ago who was an early participant in the wing car hobby.   Sold off and found its way to Texas about 1983.  Only been driven about 2000 miles since.   It has the paint that was put 28 years ago and still shows pretty good.    Some small stuff to straighten out but it will be a nice show and shine driver.   At the asking price, it was a very fair deal.  You could justify tearing it down to re-restore if you wanted to, but you can have too much fun with it now.

Bargain?...Come'on :icon_smile_big: I can build three, yes THREE finished wingcars for that price :nana:

Aero426

I guess the fact that it sold in a matter of days would signal that it wasn't exactly overpriced.   It checks most of the "good" boxes.  V code, nice color, buckets, numbers matching.   It's not a concours car by any means, but it would satisfy 90% of people who want a Bird and don't have one.

Here's the car about 1980 before the most recent repaint.

someone could hand you $30,000 and drive off in a finished car, with you furnishing everything, including the donor car?

Hey Doug are there any rhinestones left?

and convince them to bring the car out--it would be cool to have pictures of the B5 car next to it 30 years later!

What is the rhinestone story?   You probably told me and  I forgot.

Yes,  the guy is anxious to get the car out and about.

pettybird

the previous owner was a man of color, literally and figuratively.  he had the trim rings and other pieces of trim studded in rhinestones, just in case an EK2 superbird wasn't enough to get you noticed.

I have to ask mom about it more--I was obviously very young.
