Been there/ recently done that.  The compression is ridiculously low so that's the first thing to fix. Put in a set of Keith Black 10.5/1 pistons, valve grind on the heads, Comp cam( dont have specs handy but not real radical), Edelbrock Performer intake, Mopar Electronic Ign. Runs like a top. There are extra cooling passages in the block and heads but you must find gaskets cut to match. Not really necessary. Did drop the coin to get rid of the huge harmonic balancer- had the engine internally balanced and matched the new balancer, flex plate (B&M) and torque converter. Great motor.
