Is that a blue car that also hasn't ever been titled or registered that has 11,000 miles on it? Or is this a different car? I've never seen this car, only heard various people talk about a blue car in that region of the country as being another untitled or registered car.

Its a blue 69 500 its in the 79 membership records .Under Newport RI car museum

Was lime green an option for Daytonas?  Maybe he's thinking Superbirds...  I'll give him these VIN numbers and he can run them by his Uncle.

F6 was as Lime as it got in '69 (and on Daytonas).  I'll be interested to hear what your friend's Uncle has to say, and thank you for asking about it!

Talked to my buddy this weekend and his uncle has a HEMI 4-speed Daytona, and a HEMI lime green Superbird..  thats all i have for now.  I'll see him again in 3 weeks and run this by him again...

Two HEMI wing cars, quite a collection. If I was you I'd definately be wanting to go see them. I don't ever pass up an opprotunity to see a HEMI wing car in person.

HEY NASCARXX29   My car is number 92 on the list, The wingwarriors list shows that it was sent to spyderweb dodge in poetau OK but sold by New dodge city inc in Tulsa on 3 13 70 to a RONALD W BURCHAM. I bought the car in december 03 from the second owner, a MR WILLIAMS in enid. A interesting note, MR WILLIAMS owned the daytona that was destroyed in a flood in Enid in 1973, you can see a picture of it on the Wingwarriors site (one less daytona) he told me that he bought it back from the insurance company and pulled the 440 and put it in a wrecker and then just junked out the daytona.    :icon_smile_cool:   JR.

Wingman?..............JR?............JRJames, I believe?.................You'll be glad to know the "Enid flood" car is finally undergoing resto, the owner has been collecting parts, for quite sometime now,..............as well as saving his pennys!, for the resto shops bill!...............

petey,...........No info about "roll over" :o   ................................OK?

Thanks Mike for the info. I thought that car was long gone, MR Williams the past owner of that car and my daytona told me that he junked the car. The person that has the car now has his work cut out for them. Hey i have bought parts from you in the past, like your quality, need some more stuff. Will call soon.   JR. :icon_smile_cool:

JR,..............I was98% sure that was you!............how goes the Daytona?..............................hows Leo doin on his?

as for the "flood" daytona,...........it passed thru a few hands, nobody wanted to touch it! ( can't blame them!)........however the car is very well perserved!, has been basicly garaged sinced the 70's....................the current owner has a stash of nos, repro , used, parts he's collected over the years to do the car right!............he has no intention to rebody, although the car will require extensive metal work! esp. the roof and rear quarters...................we may see it in a year or two??...........if the owner follows thru ($$$$$$) the resto? :icon_smile_big:

Always good to hear of another wing car that is going to be saved. That means at least one more available for purchase in another 25 years.

Which could be good news for a young man like me.

Thanks Dave.

I'm working on memorizing them too to make for less paperwork, but I am trying to get as accurate of a database as possible. I figure the more people who are keeping records of these cars the less chance 30 years from now for someone to try to pass of a fraudulent car as real.

Plus I figure 30 years from now I'll be one of the old people in the club, and people will be asking me questions and I had better have some answers.

Like they say, "better late than never" ::)  I finally talked to my friends Uncle last night on the phone about his Daytona and Superbird.  My friend was incorrect in saying they were both HEMI cars.  They are both 440 cars and the Daytona is a Red, Automatic car.  He will be at the Aero car meet in Milwaukee in August so maybe Doug S. already knows this guy.  He said he didn't buy the Daytona new but that he bought it in 1977.  So now we know the truth to the story.  Gosh it took me a year and a half to verify this :brickwall:.

Your friend was partially correct in that Gary did own a Hemi Challenger hardtop.  He sold that to buy the Superbird a few years back.

Gary is the connection to the dealership in New Richmond who sold Elmer Duellman's car new.   In talking to people who remember the car, it is not proven, but believed it may have had a black stripe when it arrived at the dealer.  This was the car that was painted lime green before being offered for sale.

69_500

Are you saying it was probably a black car with a black stripe when it arrived at the dealership Doug? That would be an unusual combination. Not unheard of with Mopars, but would be for a Daytona I think.

hemi24

There was a Red Daytona around Wichita Kansas area back in 1988 still original in rough shape the guy use to drive it all the time..

moparchris

Don't know if you have records of my old car or not so here's the vin if you don't.  XX29L9B410767, 440 4 speed sold new in S. California.  It had Cal Worthington Dodge license plate frames on it when I bought it (1982)and it had been in Az. since 72 so this was probably the original selling dealer.  They were in South Gate California.  The car was originally f6 with black interior but I painted it r4 in 1982.  Yea... I know but hey I was 19 years old, what did I know?  :brickwall: I last drove the car ( I sold it to a friend) in 2000 or 2001 and it had 48,000 miles on it.  The new owner has used it on the Hot Rod magazine power tour so I'm sure the mileage is at least into the 50,000 range now.  The new owner lives in Northern California.

UFO

Stripe delete on a daytona sure its possible, see line #6.(This has been posted before)The million dollar question is....Did any actually be built that way.Could also be the selling dealer removed a stripe at customers request.

71ChallengeHer

One of my customers was a salesman for the Dodge Dealership here. He told me that all the Daytonas there were sold for dealer cost or less. He said people kept stealing the intakes and carbs and the owner of the dealership got tired of it and wanted all the Daytonas sold and off the lot.

moparchris

The memo from T. Guzniak that is posted above by UFO came from my Daytona XX29L9B410767.  I found it under the carpet beneath the passenger bucket seat.  I made a copy and gave it to Jim Radke in 1982.  I assume the original is still with the car.

That was quite a historical find, and it was a great thing you did by sending a copy to the Winged Warriors!

  :2thumbs:

I'll check my stuff on Monday to see if I have anything on your former car, but Doug Schellinger's DSAC information is much more complete than mine.  Maybe he'll chime in??
