I know they weren't availible on Chargers, but has anyone ever seen this option on a Polara or Monaco? Has anyone ever seen them in action? I don't ever recall seeing a car with them. I don't recall seeing a car using them. I know it was a pretty darn rare option, but did they work as claimed by Dodge.

I'm not sure I know what you are talking about!!  :shruggy:

They were slightly orange colored lights on each side of the car that were to the far right of the right front headlamps and to the far left of the left front headlamps. You could supposedly use them for long distance vision at night but they would not have to be turned off whenever an opposing car was coming at you. They claimed to be real bright but wouldn't effect the other drivers.

Steve P.

And these were a STOCK OPTION?? My memory is failing me in a big way these days, but I don't recall these lights at all... Do you have any pics???

Hmm, Sounds just like the ultra-rare 440 hemi option to me... Never seen one but I've heard of people that had the illusive critter.  :scratchchin:

God must love stupid people; He made so many.

That's it Devil. They were an option on Polara and Monaco ( don't know about the wagons ) They are in my full line 69 Dodge brochure. I think they only lasted one year because they weren't as great as claimed and very few people checked the option box. Thanks for the help.

Steve P.

Thanks Devil. I'm still not sure I've ever seen one on a Charger, but at least we know they did exist.

My gramps had a 69' Monaco hard top. That beast had one hell of a ride from what I remember.. Gramma tried to put us kids through the windshield every time she hit the brakes.. hahahaha....

They were never on B-bodies.  They were only optional on C-bodies.

A buddy of mine has it on his Monaco, I'll have to dig up some pics.  He needs to get it working again but when it did it certainly operated as advertised.

Back side of the 70 Monaco.   The owner has personalized the car with the stripe and removing some bright trim.

The owner told me that the "Super Cee" beast  was intended to be a cyclops.

Robert96

Super Cee is very cool! Almost looks like something Chrysler would have developed themselves back in the day.

Ghoste

Very creative, I like the graphic.

Indygenerallee

Pretty wild, I have never seen one! Definately looks out of place though, no wonder it did not cetch on, kind of reminds me of R2-D2's "EYE"  :smilielol:
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

I thought it was less a case of "catching on" than it was a lot of states banning them?
