Before I strip it and repaint it,

Here's a picture of my jack.

It's black.

All black.

Grey paint is showing under the black.

Why would anybody repaint the jack ? :shruggy:

This came out of a rusted to death '68 four speed car I stripped for parts back in the '90s.   :scratchchin:

Do you mind if I copy this picture to my file, IF I buy one, I'll know what to look for.

Alaskan_TA

Jacks with no date codes are 1968 model year or before.

Did '66/'67 model year use the same jack?

For such a useless item it shouldn't cost so much.

I bought what I think he said a '73 Chargers from GTC's Darrin at the Oregon Mopar Nationals that I'm gonna doll up & use.  For the most part no one will ever know the difference.  Whatever it is, there is no horizontal mounting piece, just a hook.

What I'm really hoping for is someone with the 3rd generation Charger with a 2nd gen. jack that wants to trade straight across.
I'd be taking it in the shorts but I'd be willing to overlook that.   ;)

I'm confused.
Alaskan TA, Are you saying any Chrysler jack (not necessarily a Charger jack) that has no date code would be for a 1968 model year vehicle or older?

I was about to ask this question but found this thread interesting. I have been looking for a date correct jack for my -68 for a long time now. I have so far not seen any jack at all with a date code correct for the 68 model year. Maybe someone can chime in and post a pic which proves differently. But after doing my research I would say Alaska_TA is right. At least for these Carger jacks, dunno about Chrysler in general though.

I have 2 68 jacks. No numbers except trademark nos. Only difference one jack has an extra hole in it.

Another example which indicates the '68 jack never had a date code.

Our original jack for our 69 GTX vert (which has an early SPO date of 10/3/68) has no date code that I can find on the jack either.

It makes sense that at least some, if not most or all, 68 jacks would not be date coded; those made prior to Jan. 1968 anyway. I could see most of the jacks needed for that model year being produced before that date.

Guess I got lucky when I found my uncoded jack for sale.

I must have a 69 jack here...it says "H8" on it
