Hi guys,I put a new msd distibutor in a mild 340.I put it in with out making any adjustments, now I get a backfire at around 2700 rpm.reading the instructions is kinda confusing, any ideas on the spring rate for the advance curve( what color)?any advise would be great thanks. :shruggy:

Not being familiar enough with the MSD one, I'm assuming they must put some kind of middle of the road curve in it to ballpark it for a variety of applications?  Have you put a timing light on the car and know what the existing advance specs are?

I usually limit the curve to around 20* with the buttons so you can run 16 * at idle & 36 total , the spring rate can be mid range to start & lighter as long as it doesn't cause pinging under load at lower rpm

Thanks that will give me somewhere to start.
