I'm new here but not new to wing cars.  At 18 years old I got my 'Bird in 1982.  I joined DSAC and Nascar Street Classics before I could drive but really caught the bug (er wing) after riding in Caroline Hayden's blue Daytona.  Around '80 or '81, my family joined the NCPC (National Chrysler Products Club) and we went to their first car shows in PA. which was a long way from our hometown near Clearwater, FL.  I met Tom and Caroline Hayden who brought their infamous matching blue Daytona and Superbird with white fender scoops.  Tom and I kept in touch those first couple years as I looked for a car, when in Sept. 1982, I found THE CAR in the Classic Auto Trader.  It was between Gainesville and Daytona Beach, FL. and was described as having a recent "Pontiac" green paint on it.  It also had black indoor-outdoor carpeting and black inserts in the original white bucket seats, 440/4bbl with recent "freshening up" but it had 54,000 miles.  The car is originally B5 blue, white buckets, auto, on the column, 15: Rallye wheels (matching #s). I haven't driven it since '87 but am now in the middle of a complete "rotisserie" restoration.  Here's the history the best I can determine:

1970  Miami or Hollywood, FL.  Purchased new by a contractor? who removed the wing soon after (possibly filled the holes using bumper bolts).
1971  1st owner traded it for a truck at a Ford dealer in Hollywood.  A young man named Charlie Neubecker worked in the Ford dealer body shop and purchased it (sans wing).  His wife dented the RT fender so he decided to purchase a wing and he painted the car metalflake blue. This explains why there were no trunk wing supports when I got the car.
1972  Charlie sold the car to another young man.
1973  3rd owner needed money and posted a For Sale ad on the bulletin board at a local grocery store (Hollywood?)
Donald Yundt worked at the grocery store and always liked the car.  He traded his blue '67 GTX and some $ for the 'Bird.  At some time Donald had the car painted metalflake green. Donald used the car as a family car and even had a trailer hitch welded to the rear rails (in '08 I spoke w/him and inquired why the hitch...he says the Bird pulled his boat better than his '69 Camaro would have).  Donald and family moved to a small obscure town in NE Florida where I purchased the car.
1982  After getting the car I drove it to local car shows in St. Pete, Clearwater and Tampa. Later I worked at a body shop where we restored mostly Mopars (at 1 time I did some work on the FK5 Superbird when it was in Tampa and restored a Lime 440 6 pack 4 spd console Bird).  While in the body shop I ordered anything I could get new from Chrysler...gas tank, door handles, chrome drip molding, trim rings, center caps etc.
1987  I took the car off the road as it was not reliable; front brakes hung up, freeze plugs rusted, gas tank was rusty, the usual.
1991  I moved to Ocala, FL.
1993  Started a S-L-O-W restoration which stalled about 10 years ago (family obligations).

I hope to have it painted (B5) within a year.  If anyone remembers the car in the Miami-Hollywood area in the early 70's, I'd like to hear what they recall.  Original dealer info.?  (RM23U0A158604)
