I had this ad saved on my computer from June 2005

Hi wing car guys. I've got a 69 500 SE, F3 green with green interior, it is in a million pieces, but all the important stuff is there. I bought it with the intentions of making it into a Daytona, I figured half the work is already done, but now I'm not so sure. Danny and I have talked about the car at length and I keep teetering on fence about selling it or if I keep it, which direction I want to go. It is a factory a/c car, which obviously would be way off base for a Daytona, but my earlier position was "Hey, it's my car, if you don't like it, walk away" But now I'm thinking I should just build a clone from a-z and preserve what mother mopar contracted out. I need thoughtfull opinions on this one guys. The car is very solid (even the back window plug is pristine) I have an nos quarter for the left side (banged and patched years ago) and needs small sections of trunk floor and lower quarter skin on rt rear, no inner panels have rust and the floor is perfect. I don't have the matching engine or trans (440 auto on floor).XX29L9B23XXX.

The fender tag reads like this:
N85 R22 V88 26 G11 G33 H51 J25 M21 M31 AO1 AO4 A11 B51 C16 C55 F3 F3 CRG F8 CO4 925497 E86 D32 and the VIN. The roof has the two little tiny holes on each side of the "c" pillars for the se emblem, woodgrain dash, rocker moldings, a/c etc. I still have the back window and trim, 1mph strips, vin, fender tag, trunk lid (very nice) but I got the car with no front clip. I have 69 charger parts for the front, but don't have the 500 filler pieces or correct grill with the stand-offs. Danny would probably like the car if I put it back together, but if I do all that, I'll probably want to keep it. I just picked up an original A12 bee so now I have that project staring me in the face too. This sickness is going to kill me. I'm not posting here to advertise the car for sale, I just need some educated opinions from the guys that have been in love with these cars for the past 35 years. I used to ride in Rick Edward's bird when I was younger, been around these my whole life, but now with a gang of kids and too many cars, I just don't know what to do. Come on guys, gimme some

I'm not positive on where Todd's car wound up, but I know that he did sell it. He was on here posting not too long ago. maybe he will answer that one. I don't think it went very far from where he is though, if I'm not mistaken.

XS29J8

Thanks for all the replies. I doubt the car will show up but have to give it a shot. Maybe the Engine or some radiator core support with these numbers will come up sometime!

I wonder how it got those dents in the window plug? :scope:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Did I miss something or is this an old post or this another car all together. Just going through some old postings and wandered if this was overlooked?? Is that a New York plate on a green winged car. If it's nothing then I'll remove my comment...

Not sure which photo your refering to in that thread. But I'm assuming its of the green Daytona, and if it is, then its a Michigan plate on the car.

Could register the car on this site was well.

http://www.lost-car-registry.com/browse.html

I lived on LI at that time. Don't remember that car from my old haunts on Deer Park Ave or Hempstead Turnpike. The police report says Nesconset, which was way out in the sticks.

Its not like today. That car parked on the street would arise as much attention as a 2001 Mustang GT would today. In my town, there were three LS-6 chevelles, two hemi cars, my 71 440+6 cuda etc. etc. all parked on the street or driveway, year round in the rain, snow or 100 degree summer days. it was a 16-20 year olds $1K-$4K car...nothing more.

Back then, the cops would usually make you park the car instead of writing tickets or taking you to jail for a DWI to cut you a break. Nothing that strange about that.

In the towns, the cops usually knew who you were or the car since you would be driving that brite orange charger with the loud cherry bomb/side pipes everyday. Not to hard to not notice that car from the crowd.

Probably stolen and dismantled. It would have been a low end/low value car back then...maybe they needed a hood or fender or something. The parts really weren't worth much back then, they would have popped off the vin tag and junked the car. Back then, junk yards did not ask many questions or require paperwork when taking cars.

Gotta agree....thats what probally happened to it. I hope its still out there though and didnt get taken apart and crushed :-\

I'm getting ready to leave the house now, but I think off the top of my head that 144162 is one of the odd ball 500's that has XS everywhere on it. I'll look it up when I get back home.

No bronze, the last six of the VIN are 144166 but this one was close and I had hoped it was a misprint, but turns out it wasn't..........

I added the VIN to the thread title in case someone missed it before, the Charger is a very early model with XS instead of XX on the title. We don't know if the actual VIN on the Charger is XX29L9B144166 or XS29L9B144166.

Many Thanks!

First time I've ever seen X529L9B on a registration paper... might be yet another reason these cars' histories have been hard to track down over the years.

:rotz:

69_500

Are those new pictures  of the car Steve? I don't think I"d seen those ones before. I didn't recall it having a 22" radiator is the reason I ask.

Thought that was a bit unusual but I've seen a lot of mistakes like this on registrations when they were hand typed back then................The VIN plate is another story, never seen a VIN Plate mistake in person.

Thanks!

Hi everyone, thought I would bump this thread again as there are several new members on the AERO board. This car has probably been used to preserve others but there is always a chance. Now I see people on here that had many of these cars over the years, maybe someone will remember this one...........

Cheers,

If the car ever turns up, which I'd really like to see happen, let it be in the hands of someone who's burned a few people over the years so payback time would be even sweeter.
