What kind of oil should i use on my 68  charger 383?

I use conventional Valvoline 10W-30 with Comp oil additive. Works for me  :2thumbs:

Unless you are running a full roller motor, you should use some type of oil additive that adds ZDDP.

I use Lucas hot rod oil 10w-40. It comes with the zinc additive with a k&n oil filter.

I run the Gibbs stuff in mine.  There is a thread up here in the stickied ones about Warning if you run a flat tappet cam... and it has a lot of good oil info.

Anyone using Brad Penn 20/50?
Gotta be easy on the throttle till she warms up, but then game on.

I use it in my hemi and it has all the zinc it needs, no additives needed.  :2thumbs:

Last oil change (about 100 miles ago) I used Accel SN 10w-30.  It appears to have Boron and Moly to make up for the reduced ZDDP.  So far I haven't flattened the old lazy lobe 383HP cam.  We'll see what happens.  Not advising anyone to do the same, but I need mine to run on what is commonly available.
