Title: '68 Charger Bumpers
Post by: john108 on March 28, 2014, 03:51:55 PM
What is the gage thickness of the bumpers on a 1968 Charger.  AMD advertises theirs as 13 gage.  Is that comparable to stock thickness, thinner or thicker?

I'd get a quarter they're thinner.

13 gage is somewhere between .090 and .094.  Using calipers, I tried to to measure mine.  They don't have sharp edges (thee is a small burr) and it is hard to find a spot that doesn't approach a curve.  The thinnest measurement I did was about .112.  If the burrs and curvatures weren't there, .112 is approximately 12 gage.

stock bumpers a definitely thinner and lighter, at least on my 68

by the way both AMD front and rear bumpers fit great and are of superior quality
