Title: ChgrSteve67 Dyno Results
Post by: ChgrSteve67 on August 04, 2010, 11:29:05 PM
Got my Charger back from the tuner today.
I took the Fuel Injection off about 10 months ago and have not properly tuned my Charger since I put the Edlebrock carb and MSD dist on.
Since I have a 1,000 mile round trip next weekend I got it over to the tuner.
Here are the results.  Try not to laught too hard. This motor was not built to be 500hp monster.
But let me tell you it sure runs nice and smooth now.

Steve,

The crank hp should be around 325 hp for a "stock '67 383 4-bbl", correct? I'm just a bit perplexed that the driveline losses would be about 26%, especially with the modern 5-speed in there.  :scratchchin:  Good to hear that she is running nice and smooth, though. I'll see you on September 11th.

I have looked on the net and people talk about drive train hp loss from 10 to 15% up to 40%.
The only way to really know is to pull the motor and put it on a Engine Dyno (Not going to happen)

The last time I Dyno'ed with a carb it was 242hp with a Holly 700cfm, headers, and the stock 4 speed.
Now its a 650cfm, 5 speed and stock exhaust manifolds.
I'm happy to see the numbers in the same ball park.

Also my Dyno curve is much smoother this time around.
I think the MSD dist and coil really helps the motor consistantly fire on all cylinders.

If that 1000 mile round trip is to Columbus, you better hunt me down.

Nah, he's going to "Oregon" http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,72254.msg810829.html#msg810829 (http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,72254.msg810829.html#msg810829)

If any WestCoaster's go to the midwest on a road trip we will definitely talk it up!  :yesnod:

Ah, and you know, I should have caught the "round" portion of the trip as I was typing it.

Next year I will be driving Big Red to MI for the CEMA show June 11, 2011 and then to Chicago to pick up the start of Route 66 for the trip Home.

I still have not decided if I will make it to St Louis the days before for the 45th get together yet.

That is what I would expect from a stockish 383.  The factory numbers were happy.

Did you have fun?  What all did they do in tuning?

They timed the motor, Re-curved the distributer, re-jetted the carb and adjusted the choke for cold engine starts.

Since they worked on it for three days I was not around when they ran it on the Dyno.

Not much fun just paying the bill.

I'm very happy with the work they did.
