Were any Daytonas built with the towing package? You couldnt order it with the axle package or Track Pak, but, still, it could have been ordered. Also, were any Daytonas built with A/C?
No factory AC unless it was added on at the dealer. As for the towing package never heard of a daytona having it
I don't have my '69 Dealer Data Book here at the house, but IIRC what WingCharger said is correct - you couldn't get the Towing Package with a performance axle package. Someone else can confirm this, or I can look it up on Monday.
Which brings up another question... Were any Daytonas "supposed" to be made without a Performance Axle Package? Many of us have seen the vintage pictures of the Daytona with a 22" radiator, which would have normally been equipped only on 3.23:1 (or lower numerically) auto cars. One of the Daytona documents I have states that a Performance Axle Package was mandatory equipment - but there must have been at least one exception to that "rule". If there was not supposed to be any Daytonas built without one of the P.A.P.'s (skip the execption for the moment), then the short answer to the question about Trailer Tow is (almost certainly) No.
And what Dave said about factory A/C falls into the same category - not supposed to be available...

That page comes from the data book. Here's a page from the ordering guidelines also showing Trailer Towing was N/A with an axle package.
Maybe it was a clone but I thought I remembered seeing a vintage picture of a Daytona pulling a trailer? :shruggy:
it ain't vintage he's out on the road alot...

Joe Machados original daytona that daytona pulled trailer duty
Dougs' daytona has a nice trailer hitch on it as well, but its not factory though.
I've never seen any that had a factory tow package on them, but I have yet to see them all.
It's a common assumption people make, but the Trailer Towing Package did NOT include a trailer hitch. It was up to the dealership or owner to install their own hitch however they saw fit, and a trailer hitch certainly fits on cars without the Trailer Towing Package. Doug Schellinger's and the aforementioned Machado's Daytonas are evidence of that fact...
[hint] Doug, any more vintage pictures of your Daytona with it's bumper hitch in action? [/hint]
I guess one thing people need to understand, just because it wasn't an option from the factory doesn't mean it wasn't an option from a dealership! :2thumbs:
