I have a 73 dodge charger. I'm looking to upgrade my factory bars. It's a small block so I assume factory is 0.88 or 0.90. I'm looking at either 1.03 or 1.06. It's a weekend street cruiser. Would the 1.06 be too stiff? I want to improve handling and minimize my long tubes from hitting ground on big bumps.
Factory is 0.92 as far I recall for SB and 0.96 for BB since 73 due the added lenght on T bars for the isolated rear cross member. IMHO... 1" is more than enough for SB ( even BB ). I got 1.06" and driving BB and I think could went with 1" without problems. Sure I'm driving a lower ride heigh than stock too and my adjusting bolts show allmost 80% of the threads out. I installed the LCA adjuster anchor pointing down as much as posible too so. Maybe could index the anchor in another position and the bolt thread was to be set with threads just 60% out.
1" T bar being new will make a bigger diff than you think.

AAAND, I think is not just about T bars, but also shocks, to make it really stiffer. Adding the correct sway bar will help too on cornering.

I know I need to add better shocks. I got a facroty sway bar to mount after I weld the end link tabs to the k member, but I called firm feel and they don't have anything but 1.12 bars till October. Reason I was looking at www.swataway.com bars.
when I got mines ( maybe 12 years ago ) there was another vendor for 73 and later but can't recall which one it was ( they had in fact offset hex end bars ), but on those days FF was really good priced, similar to MP 65/72 bars. Now they are more expensive.
