Is there any code on the broadcast sheet that would indicate a body color painted spare wheel? :scratchchin:
Lots of nice original details on this Superbird!

I wonder if the vin stamping on the trunk rail is wrong like the one on the radiator support. WINGNUT

Very nice honest car.   A DSAC member in Ohio bought it in 1977.  His boys both have Birds.    This one has not covered a lot of miles since then.

Yep.

The spare wheel rim was body color on cars with hubcaps.

Black with wheel covers, Rallyes or Magnum 500s.

Broadcast sheet.. "wheel color = EV2" so it was originally a steel wheel / poverty cap car and all 5 wheels get body colour painted over their black base coat.

John, 17 - EV2 - 17 is a 14" steel wheel car all painted EV2. 88 is the wheel cover and I can't find a code for it. 89 is standard stainless hub cap so maybe 88 is the poverty dish cap? Note there is no information in the "W" section lower down on the broadcast sheet for special wheels.

Figured I'd may as well share with everyone the information I saved a few years ago.

My car is WHEELS 71 - TX9 - 28 and 43 for covers. So 15 x 7 Rallye Wheel on car, spare painted Black TX9 and spare is a 15 x 6 steel wheel and car has 15" trim rings. Has W21 in the "W" section lower down on the broadcast sheet to again show Rallye wheels.

Your first car 61 - TX1 - 16 makes sense to me.. 14 x 6 Rallye Wheels and a 14 x 6 steel wheel. You sure your code isn't TX9 and not TX1 for color? DOn't know what X1 would be if anything as a color.

Second car doesn't make sense unless codes have dyslexia. your 36 - 1TX - 91 I'm lost on.  63 would be 14 x 6 magnum 500's but I don't see a code for 19 if the 91 is backwards and same deal with the TX1 / 1TX.

QuoteWHEELS ROAD COLOR SPARE:
This code identifies the wheels (rims) used on the car, the color of the wheels and what spare wheel was used on the car. This code is broken into three unique sections.
Road: This is the first 2 characters. This code identifies the wheels used on the car. The applicable codes here would be:
17 - 14 x 5.5 STEEL WHEELS
28 - 15 x 6 STEEL WHEELS
61 - 14 x 6 RALLYE WHEELS
63 - 14 x 6 MAGNUM 500 ROAD WHEELS
71 - 15 x 7 RALLYE WHEELS
Color: This is the next 3 characters. This code identifies the color of the wheels used on the car. The applicable codes here would be:
999 - Special Order
DY3 - Cream
EB3 - Light Blue
EB5 - Bright Blue
EB7 - Dark Blue
EF8 - Dark Green
EK2 - Go Mango
FC7 - Plum Crazy Purple
FK5 - Burnt Orange
FY1 - Top Banana Yellow
TX9 - Black (If car equipped with Rallye or Road Wheels this color only applies to spare)
Spare: This is the last 2 characters. This code identifies the wheel used for the spare. Often the spare is the same wheel type used on the car. The applicable codes here would be:
16 - 14 x 6 STEEL WHEEL
17 - 14 x 5.5 STEEL WHEEL
28 - 15 x 7 STEEL WHEEL
WHEEL COVER:
This code identifies the wheel covers or wheel trim used on the car. The applicable codes here would be:
00 - 14" WIRE WHEEL COVERS
24 - 14" TRIM RING PN2944424
23 - 15" TRIM RING PN2944423 - AFTER FEBRUARY 6, 1970
35 - 14" SIX SLOT PN3944435
41 - 14" DEEP DISH PN2944441
43 - 15" TRIM RING PN3461043 - PRIOR TO FEBRUARY 7, 1970
89 - STANDARD STAINLESS STEEL HUBCAP PN2944089

Wayne,
Your not going to believe this one!
After your reply I dug out the broadcast sheet for the second car and row 4 is all off by 1 space.
The first number for the vacuum fitting all the way to the left is missing.
Then in the last space all the way to the right you can see where one number was typed over the other! WOW!
So if I move everything back to the left 1 space I now have ROAD-61, COLOR-TX9 and SPARE-16.
Makes more sense now!
MJ

Yes, that's correct.  2944088 is the part number for Plymouth Division (standard) stainless hub caps, with the Broadcast Sheet's Build Code of 88.

2944089 is the Dodge Division equivalent...

My 1970 Fury III & 1970 Valiant are both '88' Plymouth Division hub cap cars, I do love the look.

Here it is back in the day.   Original owner put the mags on it.   Sold it in late 1976.    21,000 miles at the time.    It's had a pretty easy life.

Really nice looking car!!!!

Lots of details to look at.

Hard to tell, but is there a mismatch of the nose to body colors from the different paints in the 1976 picture?

The Tor-Red seems to be somewhat forgiving, much better than Limelight for example, for fading differences between the enamel and lacquer paints applied in production.

I have seen some detail pictures of a couple of un-restored Tor-Red cars. The formerly 12 mile car, when it had 5400 miles, and RM23VOA162292 which sold for a bunch and it had 22K on the clock.

Very hard to tell with the studio lighting as to color on the nose.  I'd be curious to see it in natural light.

Really a great car.

What do you see wrong with it wingnut, I have most of those numeric characters between my two cars and the fonts and shapes seem correct.

Rad support is mis-stamped 169451 instead of the actual 169441.

Not easy but you can see the difference here, original paint.
