Title: A Pillar deflectors- finished pics
Post by: NHCharger on March 20, 2018, 08:44:45 PM
Well I got the deflectors installed last night. A real ass beating. The directions that came with them emphasized how bad they looked from the factory. So I was a little concerned with how they would fit, turns out my gut feeling was right.
Anyway- a big thank you to Hemi Geno for your build thread, page 73 came in handy. The thread does show how the sealant is applied down the side of the windshield against the deflectors. I was wondering if anyone else had some pics of that detail.

I'm sure that is how its supposed to be.....whether I could live with it like that....quite another question!! Think that answer is no.

Working around that windshield gasket lockstrip, trying to get the deflector tabs stabbed in there and screwed down is no fun!!  :scared:

Here are a couple of pre-restoration pictures from the Tiffany Daytona.

Wow, that is ugly. That's one thing I never noticed when checking out Daytona's at Carlisle. I'm debating using some black silicone caulking instead. I think the finished look would be a lot cleaner. I am trying to make the clone look as close to factory as possible but I'm  having  a hard time with that.

Race Daytonas used no sealer of any type.

True ! It was the KISS principle !!! Keep it simple stupid logic . No mighty putty or flex seal , simple screws on front like superbird ! And when two screws aren't enough add more

This is one area where I decided to believe that the workers at Creative were NOT sniffing glue that day and did a half-way decent job of it

Also, a new seal is very pliable.

Maybe they learned something from race 500s ?   :scratchchin:
4 inner windshield screws were not required if you secure them on the front!
