I am still shaking, can't wipe the grin off my face. One owner, 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona bought brand new in Birmingham Alabama. He watched the talladega race on Sunday in person, and bought this car right after.. Pretty awesome. I cannot believe it's in my garage. Lifelong dream finally able to come true. Here are a few pics:
In Florida just getting it loaded:

Well played!
Waffle House!!! :drool5:
Car is pretty sweet too. ;)
If I didn't hate you before you have gone and given me plenty of reason now. :P
Congratulations Travis. :2thumbs:
Travis, Nice ride. . congratulations. :2thumbs:
I reeeeally want your garage!
Man, even if I was single I couldn't afford a collection like that. Congrats!!
Thanks for all the compliments guys!!! I am beat from the road trip, I'm headed to bed. Will try to post more pics tomorrow. I honestly cannot believe today actually happened. All the stars aligned just right to let me get this car. Yes it was a lot of money, but for what it is, i think it was extremely fair. I have not seen a Daytona for sale under 100k in very many years.. besides burned or barn find projects. Never in a million years. I thought i was too late to ever join the wing car party!!

Travis, pull the Daytona forward in the row of cars about 2 feet.. then take another picture... :icon_smile_big:
Congrats on the new child :2thumbs:
Nice score! :drool5: And what a collection you have there!
Awesome Daytona and you are a lucky man! Your "shop" looks much bigger and nicer that most peoples' garages! I know it does mine! Congrats again on a beautiful Daytona purchase!
Congrats! :2thumbs:
By the way, how does that Ram 1500 pickup handle towing that beast? It looks like there is a lot of tongue weight on the truck.

That is SOOOO funny you say that! When i backed the daytona in, the nose stuck out so far past the other cars, i had to pull ALL the other cars UP 2 feet so they would line up!!!

It pulls fine, gets decent fuel mileage, but i hate how bad it squats with a load.. I'm used to the older rams without coils and they sat level. I had to put a lot of tongue weight, my trailer was really too short(16') and i was already nervous about some of the car hanging off the back..
Dude !!!!! You have a Daytona now !!!!?? :2thumbs: Congrad's !!!! We'll have to hook sometime since you aren't that far away............. Now, get ready for the Talladega Aero Meet in 2014...
You are the newest DB !!!!!

Not to change subjects but I put a pair of air bag helpers in my coils for these situations. Make a huge difference and while not meant to increase your carrying capacity it does a great job of levelling things out when your towing a load.
Awesome addition to the stable :2thumbs: Keep smiling man!
Nice. I wish I had your money and your age. :brickwall:
:2thumbs:
Way rad!! Keep me in mind if you ever want to do a shoot with models with it!! and I'd totally take a shotgun ride too haha.
Looks like you've built up your Charger collection again too, NICE!!
Very cool, congrats!
Sweet! Great find, Trav. If anyone could land a score like this it would be you. :2thumbs:
 I wish you lots of fun with your new toy.
Leave it to Travis to find a sale.
Looks like a nice car, congrats.
Hey Travis, have you ever used a weight distribution hitch? I use one on my camping trailer & it reduces the tongue weight. You can actually see the back end of the truck lift up when you use it. :Twocents:
Was it in Florida when you bought it? I am about an hour northeast of Birmingham and 45 minutes north of Talladega, there is a guy that lives in my town that has/or had a red Daytona that he had bought years before the prices went sky high. I believe his has a black vinyl roof if I remember correctly. I saw a red Daytona cruise through the intersection down from my house a few months back which I can only assume is his.

The family brought the daytona to florida after he passed away. He was from near birmingham, the car did not ever have a vinyl top though
Awsome wing car! Congradulations! Love your 69 charger and 70 coronet too! :2thumbs: :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Yes i have used a weight distribution hitch when i tow my travel trailer. It really helps! Never had to use one just towing a car on a single trailer. But i may have to. At night my truck headlights are pointing to the sky so i get flashed all the time as if i have my brights on or something. Very aggravating

Thanks! The 70 coronet is one of my favorites but i may have to put it on the chopping block. Cant keep em all! The 69 is never for sale :)
Congrats . :2thumbs:
i can't get the tripod link in your sig to work, says page not available...............
Congrats Travis , Looks to be in great shape , this is a keeper right ?? Did you plan to buy a red one to match your red truck ???
Again great work .
Awesome score! Great "shop" too... Several cars I'd love to own!

I like the fact that the original owner went right out and bought it after the first Talladega race. Who says "win on Sunday sell on Monday" doesn't work? Congrats Trav.

I thought that was super neat. I met him at the Mopars at the Battleship show a while back and complimented him on his car, i wish i had talked to him more in depth. Who would have dreamed I'd later own his car. You just never know.

Ain't that the truth.. I remember when my car was in Mopar Muscle when Pete Wiseman owned it........ If I knew what would happen years later I wouldn't have put myself in so much stress in trying to get a Daytona....... :brickwall:
With that........ Danny, your day is coming.....................

Patients Grasshoppa, your time will come.
I found the harder I tried to find a wing car the more disappointed and dejected I got.
So I backed off , and I miraculously managed to work out a deal on a car I had inquired about in the past. Just to finalize that deal alone took months.
I should have just bought Pete's Playboy Daytona way back , when I had the chance, so I could sell it to Troy
anyone know is it true pete has the hemi convertible daytona up and moving again ??
69charger2002,
what ever happened to car #20, dodge-charger.com mascot?? i don't think i was ever on the old site
I wish i knew what happened to that 68 as well. It was to become the dc.com car for THIS site, and i haven't talked to them in years now. Lots of people to my knowledge donated money to jonathan and shelley(i think that was their names) for restoration of the car, so we would have a site car. It was a VERY early 68 charger. Would love to know what happened with the car..
probably the same place as our T-shirts
:D
Finally got the courage and drove the car today for the first time. Put 22 miles on it, ran and drove like a dream. Tracked straight, it was impressive. What an awesome car. Here are a couple pics and a video(yes i'm crazy) :o
