Hello everybody,
My name is Clint, and I just took delivery of the Q5 turquoise Daytona, the one restored by Charles Self and then owned by Ed Cook, Dave, Ryan, etc... I just wanted to say hello. It appears that my new treasure has really made the rounds over the years, with a number of owners and has been all over the country, but thankfully was taken excellent care of by each one. Well, this Q5 is now finally HOME. I don't think I've ever sold a car (daily drivers excepted), so I am not just blowing smoke about that. It has always been a dream of mine to own a Daytona. There are a couple of Superbirds in my town (Sioux Falls, SD), but I have never seen another Daytona here (certainly not another Q5 :icon_smile_big:).
Anyway, I have been a Mopar guy since I was a teenager, and restored my 1970 Charger 500 (dad is original owner) during college. That one is burnt orange with 383 Magnum. I have 3 sons and they are all absolutely car CRAZY already. I am working on the restoration of a 68 Charger 383 with my oldest son (14) right now, and next in line will be my 10 year-old and his 68 Dart 340.
I look forward to frequenting this forum and chatting with you. My boys are glad that I have gotten enthusiastic again about the Mopar muscle, because I have strayed the last several years (GT500s, Ford GT, and *gasp* Nissan Gt-Rs).
looks like a hotwheels model collection, except real, beautiful cars, and welcome :drool5:
Wow !!! We've followed that Daytona many times and Ed frequents the board sometimes........ Nice looking Nest you have there......... A Daytona and a Ford GT in the same place? .......... Doesn't get much better............... Welcome.........
So, you are the newest DB...........
Will someone please eluded to what that is? I wanna spread the community practice....... I was one once myself........ <<< current V2 wing owner........
Cheers,
Troy :2thumbs:

Clint
Very nice collection. Good luck with the Daytona it's a good one!

Welcome Clint, very nice car. Some advice from an "Old" Daytona owner: Rule number 1, Always remember there are 18 inches of nose hanging out front that you can't see from the drivers seat!
Nice shop a real man cave...cool convertible challenger...
Congrats on the purchase. BTW absolutely nothing else wrong with the other cars you mentioned...
Welcome to the forum. Love the mancave even more so, the cars in it. :2thumbs:
That wing car is the nicest car you own :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: Nicely done sir
Thanks for the warm welcome everybody, and for the nice comments. Looks like you all have some terrific machines and terrific collections, as well. Ed, cool to hear a former owner of the Q5 chime in- thanks for taking such good care of her. Hope to meet up with you someday.
As far as that garage, there is a lot more to it, and it is one of three "garages" in my house. When I get some time I can post some other pics for anybody interested. And for the purple Challenger convertible fan- thanks! It was on the cover of Mopar Muscle a while back:

Clint
WOW :o :o
What a set-up you have Clint. Congratulations on not only the Daytona, but for setting an example to your sons on what hard work can accomplish. As a high school guidance counselor, I see so many teenage boys with no drive and no goals. Keep up the good work with your cars and your sons.
welcome aboard, clint. awesome looking garage, and a great daytona to have.
Welcome, great car!
welcome love the other cars and garage too
RK motors had it before Daiseys in DE
http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/sales/inventory/sold/1969-Dodge-Charger-Daytona/134427#!/
RK Motors had it immediately before I did. That is who I bought the car from. I am glad they still put the ad together, and did the complete photo shoot and the writeup, despite the fact that I bought it pretty much immediately when they got it, because I just missed out on putting a deal together with the previous owner Ryan, who had it on Ebay. It is nice to have the extra documentation, photos, and writeup. I think maybe Ryan got it from Daiseys. Ryan has been very helpful, though I ended up purchasing the car from RK right after Ryan sold it to them. Also, RK Motors has really been top-notch to deal with.
So, the chain of ownership of my car, as I understand it:
1. Purchased by James and Shirley McPherson, South Carolina
2. Second owner deceased
3. Jerry Juneman, Kansas
4. Charles Self, Missouri (did the restoration work)
5. Ed Cook, New York
6. Marleau Borsack, California
7. David Mikkelson, California
8. Daiseys? Delaware?
9. Ryan Clough, Delaware
10. RK Motors, North Carolina (never had title transfer)
11th and final owner. Clint (me), South Dakota
If anybody thinks this is incorrect or has additional info, I would love to hear about it!
Jerry Juneman , now there is a character :smilielol:

Wow, I would love to see that! Sounds pretty cringeworthy. I guess a photo exists of it painted plum crazy by the original owner when it was only a year old. I would love to find that one, also.

Yes, he chimed in above. Good idea. I will send him a pm.
For those of you that asked for some more pics, I finally had a chance to shrink down a few to post here.
I say the garage alone is :drool5: Throw in the collection of cars in there just puts it over the top. Very nice.
Welcome to the forum.
Jim with 3 69 daytonas knew Charles Self he might be able to recall some details

All I see is a 70 Charger :drool5:
Kidding, Daytona looks sweet. Love to have one some day.
Welcome aboard! and what a fantastic collection. We are all just merely caretakers of these great machines for the next person or generation, and it would appear you're doing a fantastic job at the moment. :2thumbs:
That garage is aspirational. One day I hope to have something similar, full of Mopars.
In fact, who needs a house, I'd be living in amongst them.
Thanks for sharing.
TPR
 :popcrn:
Picture of it in white came out tonight
Nice one Clint!
Q5 Daytona, doesn't get any better? :drool5: :drool5: :drool5:
Almost 'Mopar heaven' once you get rid of them other grotty cars lol... :slap:
Just need a Petty blue Birdie and an F8 C500 and 'you is da man'.
Ok you can keep the GT40 as thay is super-coolio lol :2thumbs:
Like the Wing cars, a car built out of a need to WIN!!!
C500's should have won but someone couldn't count the laps properly.
(its a long story, but, if the C500's had won, then Daytona's wouldn't exist)
Congratulations Clint, beautiful Daytona, my dream car also! I have Mopars but am also a fellow GTR owner...
Thanks, guys!

Jerry's son Jordan contacted me after seeing an Instagram post of mine, with the Daytona, and he recognized the car. He put me in touch with his dad Jerry, and we had a couple of very nice, very long phone conversations, and then he sent me a bunch of photos of when he first found my Daytona. I've heard he is a character, but I found him to be very friendly and gracious. He definitely enjoys talking about cars! He had a lot of stories to share with me about the "good old days".
