I just picked up some new Cooper Cobra GT Radials and wondering if I should put the white lettering in or out? What is your preference? Here is a pic of my old BFG white out. I'm thinking black out.
Nice looking car. I think it looks fine either way. If you're going for a 1970s-80s hot rod sort of look, the letters OUT is a popular look.
nice looking 70 :yesnod: i prefer non lettered black sidewalls ... but i agree what KD said white lettered side walls ,are a popular look :yesnod:
I just noticed that the black wall has a cartoon Cobra on it.
I'd like to see the front about an inch lower to get a slight rake.
Black out. I did RWL out and now wish I had not.

It does have a slight rake. I'm using SS springs. The picture doesn't show it well.
I prefer white letters out.
most people in the old days did RWL out, it was flashier and you could see them spin from another car.
White letters out.
I like the white letters out better than the plain black wheel look
Big fan of the retro look with letters out but I wish I went with the Cooper Cobras vs. the BFG T/A as now I have brownish yellow lettering.. :RantExplode:
Same idea here but my cobras are turning brown too.
I just ordered Cooper Cobras for my '71 and I'm going white letters out. I was shocked at how expensive tires in these sizes have gotten.
I use full strength Dawn soap and a firm bristle brush to bring back the white on my white letters.

Will give that a try!
if you get tires with whit letters, doesn't have any sense install them with letters in.
if you don't want white letters I think there are same tires with no letters
what about yellow letters...like NASCAR ?

Not so some are best deal, like others said the white can turn into a pain to keep clean.
Like other's have said, white letters are more stand out, they draw attention to the tire, flashier etc. Blackwall out is more oem, stock and understated look.
On your car, the black wall out would match nicely with the hood and stripe..but I am undecided on which I would do.
Depends on what wheels you have... I love the white lettering with the black steelies... this is my 500–

yes agreed ! black steel wheels with white letters the nascar look :coolgleamA: :yesnod: :2thumbs:
Still prefer white letters out, especially on a large car like a charger.

Love the MT Indy profile tires, Stuart. :coolgleamA:
I missed out on buying a set a few years ago when Summit racing had them. ::)
I wish somebody would make them again.
I had them om my '72 Charger back in the early 80's.

That was a good buy for Indy Profile especially 50's. I still get tire sellers trying to say N50 and P295 are
the same size.
I got the new tires installed. My tire shop first put the black out and did not look good so he installed white out. By the way, 245/60/15 fit good on the front with no rubbing issues on a 15x8 with 4 1/2 backspace.
Just bought two sets of CC'S for the Charger and Challenger both with white letters out on 15x7 Rallyes.
Not correct for the 69 but I had them and needed 15's because I couldn't use the 14's with hubcaps anymore because of the disc brake swap. It sure looks good with em on there though!
RWL are always OUT and look super cool!

I've got white letters out on every vehicle I own even put some on my wife's 2018 grand Cherokee so I may be a bit partial but I think it fits the nostalgia look of these cars. Your car looks great by the way!
Got my wheels back today with new tires mounted and balanced.
To me it depends on age, look, etc. Of the car.
I painted the lettering on my Challenger and it didn't look right with the large diameter rims,
Which I did a more old school look on.

I want that Javelin. I don't care if it's a 6 cylinder. I love that body style.

no yellow
No worries, it's a 360 2-barrel with M11B
I have a 4 bbl manifold and carb for it, plus a M12 I can rebuild.
I keep thinking I am going to try one of those EFI set ups that look like a carburetor with an inline fuel pump.
White letters out unless you are putting on red lines.
I only run raised white letters out if on a stock Rallye or Road Wheels (Magnum 500). On my steelies and aftermarket mags like my Welds or Cragars I run black wall out. I do still have the white walls out on my New Yorker.
