Title: Coolant flush
Post by: Dino on June 08, 2023, 12:45:32 PM
I'm getting close to firing up the engine, and I just remembered I never flushed the heater core. I'm also not positive if anything is left in the engine. Would it be ok to start the engine with plain water, and once the cam is broken in flush it? I could stick the garden hose in the radiator and have the petcock open with the engine running and heater on until the water runs clear. Then drain the radiator and add what? 2 gallons of concentrated antifreeze and a bottle of Water Wetter? Does that sound right?

Yea water is the best coolant anyway! Flush and back flush the core both ways.  :scratchchin:

I use distilled water plus full strength antifreeze, 2 gallons of each.
