Not many usable parts for a parts car!
Wow.. so little metal left I don't think you'd get 300 bucks from the scrapper for weight.
Bury it and let it rest in peace
:o wonder where the numbers went?
I know where all the donor part can be found

The numbers were probably the only things of value when it was bought the last time......

was just thinking that , sure ive seen a old picture of that bird , on the internet somewhere , or one like it ! or similar ! , when it was still a complete superbird. in a parking lot with other aero mopars .... might of been a winged warriors meet or some kind of aero convention ... :scratchchin: :popcrn:
when you see cars like this , bet they have a story to tell :yesnod:

Somewhere there is a rust free Satellite running around with the vin tag and trunk - rad support numbers of a Super Bird!
Hey guys, better all check your cars out closely! ::)
Isn't there a frame rail vin number by the rear shackle?? :shruggy:
I think Ted Stevens needs to buy this car then he could have a dodge and a plymouth. :Twocents:
Most of that will buff out.... :buff:
Junk...
Most expensive piece of trim ever as this is the only usable part I can see.
It is good garage art. Own a real Superbird with none of the hassles. Without an identity, it's like an unknown soldier.

Yah.. but is there anywhere solid enough on it to bolt it to the wall !
Moulding and the rear plug are pretty much the only useable items? After that, crush it.

Now $3850 resreve not meet???
Has anyone asked for drivers side pics??
Looks like it spent years on the ground with other car-- cars stacked on top?? then put up on the old wagon after it was full of rot an roof damage?? savable?? maybee?
I am surprised you guys haven't posted up a Back in the Day picture of this Superbird yet...I was hoping to see how the custom paint looked on this one. I will keep tuning in.

drivers door hanging, wonder if they cut the vin sticker out of the door too
That car sat on the roof of that wagon since it was totaled in 1972,it was 12 mi from me until last winter. It was a Tor Red 6 pk console 4 s pd.I have had the fender scoops and console since 1982,the diamond corner pieces are on my bird,I could have had it for just removing it but wasn't interested, the owner was a personal friend of mine.He had removed all the numbers years ago, probably still somewhere in the barn.He passed away at the age of 75 about 12 yrs ago. There were about 100 cars in that field.mostly Mopar, half have been crushed, the balance soon to be.Here are a few pictures of what is left.
Thanks guys you are awesome.
Bill is that the yard the Mod Top A12 Bee was in?
Dave
Dave,no on the yard,it's an old farm. That is in Pleasantville/Alum Bank,PA.either will show on Google Earth, Map it, it is only 1/2 mile south of town on Rt 96 (Courtland Road).I also "had" the bare block that I bought from the original owner .He kept the some of the drive train when he sold it after he wrecked it to the fellow that I mentioned above.I sold the block to a fellow in NJ.about 15 yrs ago,the Dana went into my 70 Bee in place of the 4.10 rear, the transmission is in a 69 Hemi RR about 20 mi from me.The car was sold new at H.E.Wagner Motors,Johnstown,PA.also about 25 mi,never left the area.

Roof damage came from being rolled.
Is the guy who wrecked it ,alive an still in the area?

He's gone also. :pity:
Looks like the ad is gone off eBay . Wonder if the fender tag and VIN is hanging off some rusty nail in the barn? ::)
Finally a bird in my price range....! it would be nice to save it for the sake of having a real bird but where do you even start ? Without any tags ,#s or important parts its more yard art than anything else ..... i guess my Satellite will have to play the part some day once I have all my parts

One of the areas where the cars VIN is stamped.
Does that not look like there are two notches cut out of the lip
Another one closer to the back window ?
Is that not where the wing washers are welded to the trunk opening edge ?
It looks more like they cut that out to get wing washers out maybe ?

Right, of course. for some reason I was thinking it was related to the wing. Thanks!!

Absolutely not !!
It could have been repaired 'back in the day'!
Sadly NOT
Like this limey Challenger it can be repaired too, but ------the 'powers to be' won't allow it to be put back 'on da road'
Currently for sale in Canterbury UK for $1000 a 1972 4-speed, 340 Chally.
Yeah...pity. Only cat C or D writes off can go back on the road. B can be broken for spares and an Cat A write of must be crushed with none of the spares even sold.....usually a Cat A involved a fatality. I tried once to get a Cat B car re-graded as a C to rebuild it. Was a lovely Mk2 Jensen Interceptor FF.....for those that don't know that's a very British heavyweight Sports Cruiser with the very same Mopar 440 V8 under the bonnet (hood!) as our 440 Chargers....and four wheel drive!! The first ever non all-terrain car to be fitted with 4WD. Such a rare car now and this was a factory modded demo car from the launch. Only 320 were built from 1966 to 1971. No go....powers that be said it was too bad.....I was prepared to rebuild it and have any inspection they wanted to re-register it.....still no go. More automotive history lost for ever!

This birds getting Lots of attention. Any updates on any vin numbers?
Think this is to far gone numbers from it may be in use on another Superbird. And 2 cars can't share the same vin numbers and coexist. If someone built. A duplicate car as a keeper and not passing it off as authentic and not trying to sell as real wingcar then its all good. But if 2 ? Legit Superbird surface with same vin whole different story
And with no rad support trunk lip Dr door decal fender tag build sheet no motor or trans numbers how do you substainute what remains you have. And no title or any documentation
Could crash details drivers name in the newspaper archives

I've known Ray for over 35 years. he lives about 10 miles from me. I rented his brother's building for years. he had a Bird also. there was 6 birds between the brothers at one time. Ray sold his yellow one he bought new back in 89 or 90' but he still has his 63' Max wedge he bought new and drag raced.

O'k thanks. I am the guy who bought 3 of Rays cars. Still kicking myself for not buying all 4, but just couldn't swing it. I knew his brother had a Bird. but did he have 2?.
Dan.
Ok I know who you are now Dan, Pleased to meet you. Ray's brother Frank only had the orange bird. 4spd car. He sold it to a guy in Jamestown,Pa. couple years before he passed away. then it went to Canfield Mopar nats where it was sold. I thought I heard it was out eastern Pa. somewhere now. I would know the car do see it. The interior reeked of mothballs to.
Like wise, have we ever crossed paths ?
Dan.
Might have. but I'm sure we know a lot of the same people in this area. On another note, Any idea where the purple Superbird on Route 8 near Butler went? Ray tried to buy that car for a long time no sale . One day while trucking he went by and it was gone.
The parts car Bird was likely owned by the late Earl Dull. He seems to have passed in 1998. He had more than one Bird.

I know where the Purple bird sat years ago, but I don't know where it ended up. There were 2 other birds just a few miles from there also. I looked at one of them, a orange car that had been painted Petty blue, and another that I never laid eyes on. The one I never had the chance to see was a yellow car said to have very low mileage. Don't know where these cars went either, but I know a fellow that could probably fill us in. BTW, do you know of the yard Ray pulled the rolled bird out of ?

I knew of an Orange one that sat in the weeds back in the 80's north of Titusville off a dirt road. Tried buying it back then but no dice. That car is alive and well today in Titusville still owned by a guy named Scott who owns a logging company and had Huffman restore it bout 10 years ago. The only other blue one I knew of was also in Titusville. The owner of the old Daly and Cogan Chevrolet bought one for his son I believe. That car was restored about 20 years ago but I don't know it's where abouts. There was a lot of wing in this area back then. The Ohio valley was really flooded with other muscle cars as well. Back when Ray had his cars I could count about 10 or 11 wings in a 50 mile radius here. Ray's good friend Reed bought his Blue Superbird at Jim Sarvas Dodge in Greenville. That car sat behind his trailer in the bushes to before he sold it did Ray ever tell you about that one?. as for the yard was that Scoffield's auto wrecking? I was told he had a wrecked one years ago to.
It was at Carlisle this weekend...................
