Title: Wilwood rear brake problem
Post by: NorwayCharger on September 04, 2005, 05:42:32 PM
I have a problem with the offset on my rear brake kit.
The rotor and caliper want align right.
I think i may have got some wrong parts in my kit, i see there are different offsets on the calipers 120-6806 and 120-6807.also different offset on rotors too.

I was wondering if i just could alter the offset by grinding the
spacer i have marked with the red arrow, or must i get me a new rotor or caliper set.

I had the same problem with a wilwood rear disk kit, although it was for a 'Cuda.
I ended up getting different length bolts, and using washers and such to get the caliper to mount centrally.
Seems to be working OK, so far...

Did you happen to get your kit from Magnumforce Inc ??

Do you guys have green bearings? there kits are probably based on the green bearings and the offset that you have using them.

The 'Cuda had "green " bearings by Mopar.
But it needed to be changed to the "green" bearings by Moser / Strange Inc.  etc.
They are different , although both are non-adjustable.

Same for me, got the wrong ones first time.
I am quite sure i have got the wrong calipers.
There are two calipers, the only difference is the 4,1 mm offset.
I did some metalwork on the spacers today, and now they are centered ;D

I would have done the same & just modified the spacer to line the caliper up correctly
Make sure the residual pressure valve is removed from the master cyl if you are using a drum brake master cyl , it is located behind the brass insert the flared line seats against
