Title: Seat Belt Matching Question
Post by: Blade on July 07, 2006, 09:56:21 AM
I'm in the process of trying to get the shoulder belts for my '68 R/T.  While on ebay I realize that my interior is red, but the seat belts are black.  The seat belts are supposed to match the interior color, aren't they?

Yes, with a red interior you should have red belts. Good luck finding a set though as red was pretty rare.

I am looking for some to dye red for my car too. I have a blue set that I dyed with RIT for now but would like to find some more to experiment with. Is your interior the dark red or brighter red?

Can a place like Snake Oyl supply them in different colors? (and I'm sure they just dye them like you did)

I believe it's the darker red.

I am sure they will do whatever color you want if you can afford the $$$$.

Agreed, they are very expensive.   If you've seen their stuff though, you have to admit they do some incredible work.

A buddy of mine bought his dye from a company called MOPAINT. This company advertised in Mopar Muscle Magazine in about 2002 for about 3 issues. He was able to match my friends tan interior. I don't have a phone number. It is a company the guy runs out of his house. I need to get pearl white for my interior.

I dyed my belts black using Duplicolor Vinyl/Upholstery dye. Black was an easy color to match and the product went on real well. I can't use their white though it is not a match.

Another thread on this board recommends a SEM product. You can get to the thread by searching "seat belts". Title was something like "redoing seat belts"
