today i purchased this 68 charger. for a few $$$ and over a couple cold beers we shook hands and made the deal. its officially mine. Bringing it home today! This is how it was found.
Keep the pictures coming.
a few more...I will be doing more pictures once we go get it. :2thumbs:
Great score, although the previous owner sure did alot to make your job harder now.
He should have been the one buying the beeer!
QuoteHe should have been the one buying the beeer!
yea lol
long row to hoe for sure...
Congrats on the purchase. :2thumbs: You better be prepared to spend a LOT of money to get it road worthy.
So this can sit beside the 69 you already have ?
Be careful as this Charger stuff can get addictive and expensive
But always good to have spare parts or at least a pattern so do not take both of them all apart at the same time
QuoteSo this can sit beside the 69 you already have ?
I know it looks bad but at least i am working on the 69. This one will be on the back burner for a bit well maybe :scratchchin:
yea i was very surprised that he sold honestly.
I can borrow a few pieces of it to fix my 69 charger( rear bumper, mirror, 8 3/4 inch rear end to name a few.
Plans are to completely disassemble this one and build it from the ground up. maybe on a rotisserie. I believe as much as i love mustangs, this still has to be my ALL time favorite car the 68-69-70 charger!!
Looks like a fairly complete parts car.
About the same shape my car was in.... Perfect for any wild custom you can think of
:coolgleamA: :popcrn:
nice find!!! :coolgleamA:
Mmmmm. Pine needles. My favorite preservative. Good luck with the build. Look forward to the progress reports.
loading the charger this afternoon. It was a tight fit pulling the charger forward between these two cedars. But my Buddy JP knows his stuff, and got it done without so much as scuffin the paint. :)
tell me this? HOW does a Tire just disappear off the rim??? not just one but three of them?? :shruggy:
headed to its new home
pic (1) the most bestest HOOD scoop i have ever seen lol What do you guys think? Gotta love the brick holding it down
pic (2) under hood= the red Alabama clay coated the firewall ultimately protecting the paint for the most part
washing with a little soap...my sweet wife got involved, she is a GOD send
Looking better already!! :popcrn: :popcrn:
thanks Simonic,
I appreciate that, a few seem to stick their noses in the air over how ratty it is, that's ok with me. I only know one way the hard way. I probably will never be able to go out and spend 25k to 40k on a already built charger, but i will definitely have fun building the two "ratty ones" lol
Leave the patina and throw a set of aluminum slots on it!
honestly looks alot better than i thought

thats what i am thinkin... maybe some chrome throwback keystone classics
Quotehonestly looks alot better than i thought
me to brother, me too, been doing some major cleaning on it, still got a ways to go.
Did it come with a vin tag ? Q1 blue ?
the data plate under the hood is missing unfortunately. but that color is the exact color as my 69 charger, same color interior everything lol crazy huh
i mean i can back trace it for the most part, but it would have been nice to have the under hood  data plate
Not bad for $1500. You scored well. :2thumbs:
Another one saved, nice find, & yes they will multiple. :2thumbs:. Should have seen some of the ones I brought home.
Nice score. :2thumbs:
I'm surprised that it wasn't scooped up already after sitting there for years collecting pine needles.
It looks so much better just washing it off. I look forward to seeing your progress
Nice score! :2thumbs:
Nice...not to dissimilar to my starting point......although being in the UK I had to pay a LOT more! Like the blue in blue....on someone else's car at least..not sure I could live with it in mine though. Great find.

yea i know what you mean
my 69 was the same blue on blue

it was nearly 3 miles down a dirt road on private property dead end road. I was riding where i should not have been when i found it lol
thanks guys! i appreciate it
Nice score Harper, that patina looks cool! :2thumbs:
Looks awesome. I have been looking for one like this to drop a drivetrain in and drive as is, rain or shine.
Quotemopar4don

thanks
i looked at a stock 440/727 rv combo for it this afternoon. Plus I also picked up the car (73 model i believe) 727 as well this afternoon. Should be a fun ride. :yesnod:
removed my passenger side brake drum tonight i mean at like 11:30 pm on Christmas Eve. had to cut the retaining pins with a chisel and it STILL did not want to come off... :brickwall:
Lort,
today was another piece in a million piece puzzle.
I now have a rolling chassis. I removed my brake shoes, drums, and put some "roll around" wheels and tires on my project 68 today. Still a lot to do. One step at a time. :2thumbs:
Great way to spend Christmas honestly :2thumbs:

the wife wanted to get me something for Christmas, I said dear I already have my Christmas "my 68"!!
:icon_smile_big: ;D ;)
ok after much deliberation i have decided to sell this 68 charger and keep and fix my 69 Charger. So i have listed it on ebay, (so i am now one of the delusional charger sellers i guess) lol
I found a 1994 Rio Red Mustang Cobra and its identical to the one i had 20 years ago and in pretty decent shape so...after much deliberating i have decided to sell the 68 to fund my 94. and plus the 94 is a running and driving car with heating/ac.
I am telling you guys so if anyone is interested you have first crack at it. Its rough and it needs everything, but i know ppl who are looking for one,so here it is. Good luck bidding.!

Why not list it here for a week or so to give guys a shot. You Wouldn't have to pay the eBay fees.
Luke

i probably should have but wasn't sure on fees and all that, i normally don't list items on ebay i typically just buy on there.
i just feel that i can get max dollar out of it on there. not looking to get rich, just make enough to cover my cost on the cobra.
dang, im going to miss this car, and it isn't even mine
And it sold already?!
Looks like it sold for $7500
yea it went fast. it blew my mind.
